Councilman Arthur Bacon reported he met with Mr. Ezra Yancey last week in
to his bid on installation of underground garbage cans for the City. and
since Mr. Yancey had sufficient insurance with a reputable Georgia firm. bond.
and required equipment. he. as chairman of the sanitation committee, recommended
in the form of a motion. that Council accept the low bid submitted by Mr. Yancey
of $3.50 per can for approximately 4400 cans. Motion seconded by Marston Tuck
and approved with unanimous vote.
Mike Westmoreland who installed the first fifty cans stated he aidnot think
he received a fair deal since all bidders had an opportunity to know the
first fifty cans were installed ror $4.00 each. Mr. Westmoreland stated
further that he lost money on the first fifty installations because
the locations were scattered allover town. Councilman John C. Porterfield
recommended that Mr. Westmoreland submit an itemized bill for any loss sus-
stained on the initial installation of the fifty cans.
Victor Broyles stated the sanitation ordinance was in work.
On the recommendation of Sanitation Supervisor Victor . and on motion

Councilman Homer Kuhl reported an intemized list of materials and estimated
cost had been prepared on sewerage for the new telephone building on Corn
Road and it was important that a meeting be set up with the contractor at
an early date.
Mr. Kuhl also stated he had talked with officials of the State Highway Department
and County officials in regard to resurfacing the outside lanes on Cherokee Road.
Cobb County Commissioner Ernest Barrett stated the county would furnish the
labor if the city-would furnish the labor if the city would furnisb the materials
on resurfacing the outside lanes. The Council agreed. on motion by Homer Kuhl,
seconded by Hubert Black, to start work with the county on this project

of them are intelligent, both are men of ability and character, both of them
