JANUARY 6, 1973
A special called meeting of Mayor and Council was held in City Hall, Smyrna,
Georgia, on Saturday, January 6, 1973.
A motion was made by Councilman Homer Kuhl at 11:00 A.M. to declare the meeting
a regular called meeting. The motion was seconded by Councilman C. 0. Canada.
Mayor J. C. Porterfield presided and all Council Members were present except
Arthur T. Bacon of Ward No. 3. City Clerk L. W. Charles, and Assistant Clerk D.
Scott Jackson -were also present.
Councilman Homer Kuhl motioned that Mayor J. C. Porterfield be authorized to sign
a check in the amount of $1500 to cover a ninety day option on the Poss property,
located in Land Lot 483, 17th District, Second Section, Cobb County, Georgia, with
the provision for at least one ninety day -extension on the option at $1500 additional;
the total purchase price being $165,000 including all commissions, and the option
money to be applied to the purchase price. The motion was seconded by E. R. Coalson
and vote on the motion was unanimous.
It was also agreed by Mayor and Council that the Council Chamber would be used only 1
for Council meetings and Merit Board meeting.
It was further agreed that the Court Room at the Police Station would be used only
by civic groups - including the Shrine group.
Any other groups requesting a meeting place should contact the Fire Department for
space, through the Fire Committee Chairman.
Any deviation from the above stated policy should be approved by the proper com-
mitte chairman.
Motion to adjourn at 11:04 A.M. was made by C. 0. Canada, seconded by Homer Kuhl.
The vote was unanimous.
