01-05-1976 First Meeting (2)January 5, 1976
The first meeting of the new administration was called to order at 7:50 P.M. by
Arthur T. Bacon.
In the first order of business, the oath of office for the new Mayor of the City
of Smyrna, Arthur T. Bacon, was administered by Judge Luther L. Hames, Jr., of
the Cobb County Superior Court.
Mayor Bacon then recognized all the Councilmen.
Judge Hames administered the oath of office to the seven councilmen as follows:

The first official act of the new administration was to appoint the following:
C. V. Reeves City Judge
Charles E. Camp City 'Attorney
Willouise C. Spivey City Clerk
Mayor Bacon made the following recommendations for city inspectors:
Gene Hoaster Building Inspector
L. W. Boring Electrical Inspector
W. L. Westbrook Plumbing Inspector
A. L. Coleman Heating & Air Conditioning Inspector
C. 0. Canada motioned that all recommended appointments be approved. Homer Kuhl
seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
On the recommendation of Mayor Bacon and on motion by Jerry Mills, seconded by
Elbert Coalson, Homer Kuhl was appointed as Mayor Pro-tem. The vote was six for
the motion. Homer Kuhl abstained.
Mayor Bacori announced the following committee assignments:

Homer Kuhl made a motion to adopt the present business license schedule. C. 0.
Canada seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
Jerry Mills reported progress was good on Fire Station #3 but was slowed due to
bad weather. Dedication will be after the building is completely finished.
Jerry Mills called a meeting of the fire committee for Tuesday afternoon.
