(H) Mayor J. B. Ables read in council a letter from Hensley and. Associates, Inc'.
relating to sewerage fees collectible per agreement,(of7-20-60) in the construction
of the joint project and out -fall line west of the City on Church Road in South
West Cobb County. All action and/or connections to this facility, the fees payable
and policy for collection of same, were; per Mayor J. B. Ables recommendation,
referred to councilman W. L. Keck for resolving and reporting on this joint agreement.

Continued meeting of Mayor and Council was held at City Hall, Smyrna, Georgia,
July 30th, 1962a1at 7:00 o'clock P.M. Meeting called to order.by Mayor J. B. Ables.
All Council members present except J. B. Rhodes.
Under Item�•No. 1 "Citizens Reports", Mr. L. G. Turner requested Sanford Place
be closed to traffic from 5:00 P.M. to closing during State Play-offs of the Pony
League scheduled August 6th through August 9th 1962. Motion R. H. Wood, seconded
R. J. McCurry - Motion carried.

Council stated the work on Pinedale and Oakdale Drive will be scheduled to start
withiri'ten days and that City would bear the cost of tree and shrubbery removal on
ali streets widened to eighteen feet.
In connection with curb and.gutter installations on streets pending, per above
statistics p Councilman R. J. McCurry motioned to recess the hearing to August 6, 1962
at 7"00 P.M. at City Hall to allow engineering time to recalculate firm costs per
foot for curb and.gutter on all streets marked "Pending".
Citizens in area of improved property (215 Stonecreek Road) requested solution
to drainage problem, created, they claimed by the builder. Prior to this date, the
improvement passed F.H.A. and city inspection and council ruled the city had no -
problem and no compulsion tq&ct on the complaint. W. L. Keck's motion to cancel
building permit lost for a want of a second to the motion. Councilman J. W. Webb
excused 10:15 P.M.
Council voted against the sale of city owned property on Benmac Road, (a tract
of land 50 x 150 in LL 348) . H. E. Ingram motioned "we sell the property to Mr. M.A.
Burnett and Mr.C. A. -Fountain for $50.00", seconded by R. J. McCurry. Voting for
the motion, R. J. McCurry, and H. E. Ingram. Voting against, H. L. Smith,
R. H. Wood and.W. L. Keck.
Mr. Quinton S. King appeared in Council and discussed the cost of water lines
around the perimeter of his project known as Hickory Acres Unit No. 1. Council agreed
on W. L. Keck's motion to install water lines.per specifications submitted charging
Mr. King $5,682.00 for main lines, service lines and meteli deposit covering 26
houses in•Unit No. 1. Motion stated the city would absorb difference between the
bill of materials and check submitted by Mr.Q.S. King, the variance representing
six inch main lines required in the area for future usage and pressure. The vote
-on the motion was four to one - H. E. Ingram opposed. --
Council approved June 1962 minutes on unanimous vote.
Letter addressed to Mayor and Council from Postmaster Zelan:'T. Wills was read in
council which referred mostly,to enforcement of.the five minute parking regulation in
front of the Smyrna Post Office. Letter referred to Councilman H. L. Smith for Action.
Mayor J. B. Ables signed the Sam Finley Inc., contract extending the unit prices
per accepted bid submitted covering section No. 1 resurfacing, to include section No. 3
consisting of approximately 12 miles of streets. Contract states that all general
or special specifications called out and approved for section No. 1 are applicable
to section No. 3 and that completion of the work shall be 60 working days from
written notice from engineer to proceed.
Total cost - Resurfacing and adjust man holes to grade $96,698.05
Catch basins, head walls and pipe 4,235.00
Total, resurfacing, section No. 3 $1003905

Form "C" State Highway Construction Projects and Certificate of Ownership were
read in council and signed by Mayor and.Council. Form "C", (a resolution) was
adopted as read., calls out resurfacing of Church Street in the City of Smyrna from
S. R. #280 to S.R. #3, a distance of 1.20 miles and.referred in the signed and submitted
forms as Project PR 4467 (1). Motion H. E. Ingram, second W. L. Keck to adopt the
resolhtion and certificate of ownership as read. The vote was unanimous.

Request to reimburse Nordec, Inc. (letter 4-18-62 and 5-23-62) for purported.
damages to curbs in Unit 2, Creatwood Forest was denied on H. E. Ingram's motion,
second W. L. Keck -.:and unanimous.
Letter of resignation as City building inspector effective August loth, 1962
was received feom Mr. J. A. Bailey and read in Council. Resignation accepted.
Council discussed fruit peddlers on east side of North Atlanta Street;
colored ball games at Ward Park; installation of additional fire hydrants and
requested City Engineer to fill-in during Elmer Wester's hospitalization.
