A regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held. Monday, March 4,
1963 at 7:00 o'clock P.M., both Mayor and full council in attendance.
There were no reports from citizens.
Councilman R. J. McCurry brought up the mutter of the Volunteer
Rescue Unit ambulance making calls outside city limits and. city furnish-
ing gasoline for the vehicle. After considerable discussionā¢it was
resolved that a policy had. been previously established and. Councilman
H. L. Smith was asked. to see that this policy be followed. in the future.
Motion by H. L. Smith, seconded by J. B. Rhod.es that parcels 14
and. 15 (Belmont Circle and Estelle Court) be struck from the annexation
bill currently before the Cobb County delegation. Voted. unanimous.
C. J. Fouts appeared. before council relative to building permit
for service station to be located. at 307 No. Atlanta St. Motion by
H. E. Ingram, seconded, by R: H. Wood. that permit be issued. subject to
approval of plan by Building Inspector. Voted. unanimous.
The following resolution relative to the establishment,Lof a Junior
College in Cobb County was adopted. by unanimous vote on motion by R. J.
McCurry, seconded by H. L. Smith:

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the establishment of a Junior College is greatly needed.
in Cobb County and. would. be of much benefit to stud.ents of our County;
and.
WHEREAS, numerous civic and. educational leaders in our County are
making arrangements to establish a Junior College under the Board: of
Regents of the University of Georgia System;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and. Council of the City of Smyrna go on
record. as heartily endorsing the establishment of a Junior College in
Cobb County.
Motion by H. E. Ingram, seconded. by H. L. Smith, to appoint Mr.
Ray R. Fain to fill vacancy on the Plumbing Board.. Voted. unanimous.
Motion by R. H. Wood, seconded. by J. B. Rhod.es, to employ W. T.
Aenchbacher at a salary of $60.00 per week to work in the Parks Depart-
ment, starting date as soon as available. Voted. unanimous.
Councilman H. E. Ingram reported. the Pure Oil Company did not feel
they should. bear total cost of running sewer line to location at South
Cobb and. Powder Springs Street, since lowering existing line to serveā¢
Birch Street is involved.. Motion by H. E. Ingram, seconded. by R. J.
McCurry to negotiate cost with the Pure Oil Company with the city to
participate in an amount not to exceed. $400.00. Voted. unanimous.
Councilman J. W. Webb read an invitation from Fine Arts Club
Gallery, 104 Cherokee Street, Marietta to attend open house March 10 -
Sunday afternoon 'till 6:00 P.M.
