10-22-1957 Special MeetingA special meeting of Mayor and Council was held October 22, 1957; 8:00 A PM at theyCity Hall. Mayor James E. Quarles presiding with the following councilmen present: N. E. Brenner, D..M.,Scarbrough, and R. H. Wood. City Attorney Harold Willingham was present. ;x Mayor Quarles called the meeting to order. Mayor Quarles -presented a breakdown on the rental and repairs as computed by A. V. Bolton Const. Co. on the heavy equipment now in his possession. Mayor Quarles requested the contracts committee to go back to Mr. Bolton on the -breakdown. Council agreed to take no further action until a later date when another would be called. The Belmont Mechants Association requested permission to have a Circus on the -parking lot at Belmont Hills Shopping Center. Motion Scarbrough seconed Wood that the Circus be all6wed to perform on the Parking lot at the Belmont Hills Shopping Center with the Business license fee being set.at $200.00 provided that 15% of the gross proceeds go to some charity orgianation. Voted unanimous., Motion D. M. Scarbrough that the registors for the coming election to be held Nov. 2, be paid $40.00 each. Voted unanimous. Motion Scarbrough seconed Wood that the Election managers for the coming election to be held Nov. 2, 1957 be paid $30.00 each. Voted unanimous. Motion Wood seconed Scarbrough that the following persons be appointed as registrors for the coming election and authorized to assist the election managers. Mrs. Varner Dobbs., Bill.Viles., 0. L. Pogue. Voted unanimous. Motion Scarbrough seconed Wood that the following persons be appointed as election managers for the coming election: R. C. Byrd.., Mrs. Calvin Johnson, Jr., Louis Schreinbman. Voted unanimous. Motion Scarbrough seconed Brenner that Mr. Bolton be issued a work order to put the water line in the MacKenna Subd. Provided MacKenna pay for the pipe in advance. Voted unanimous. Motion Scarbrough seconed Brenner that Mayor Quarles be authorized to instruct Mr. Davis to rent equipment to repair drainage problem located at Mr. Wigleys on Powder Springs st. abdLWayland Court.
