11-22-1954 Special Meeting (2)196 A special meeting of the Mayor and Councill was held at the City Hall November 22, 1954 at B:P.M. Mayor Pro-tem H.L.'McEntyr e Presiding with the following Councilman Present, John Collier, N.E.. Brenner, V.R. Siddall and G.R.- Yarrbrough,. V.R. Siddall made a motion, seconded by John Collier that the Ordinance introduced at the November 1,'1954 meeting authorizing the paving with curb and gutter of Mann Street be adopted. Voted unanimous. Motion by V..R. Siddall, seconded by John Collier that the ordinance introduced at the November regular meeting-authorizine the paving with curb and gutter of Stephens Street be adopted. Voted Unanimous.. Motion by V.R. Siddall seconded by N.E. Brenner that the property 1_ocated at the south east corner of Stephens and Mann st, be exempted from the paving assessment of November 1, 1954 for curb and gutter. Said property -belonging to Mrs. J:R. Still and running approximately 150'feet on Stephens St. and 20 Teet'on Mann 'Street. Voting Unanimous. Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by John Collier that the Ordinance introduced at the November 1,.1954 meeting authorizing the paving with curb and gutter of 2I the Street be adopted. Voted unanimous Motion by V.R. Siddall,' seconded by John Collier that -the ordinance introduced at the November 1, 1954 regular meeting authorizing the curbing and guttering of MaRebee Dr. between McCauley Rd. and South bobh Dr, be adopted. Voted unanimous.. Motion by John Collier, seconded by N.E. Brenner that the Finance Committee be authorized to a.ct on the stringing of the Christman lights through out the City. 'Voted unanimous.. Motion by John Collier,, seconded by G.R. Yarbrough to amend an ordinance of the Mayor and Council of the City of Smyrna adopted November 1, 1954. Said Ordinance attached to and made a part of 'these minutes. Voted unanimous,. Mayor Pro,-tem Me:Entyre appointed N.E. Brenner as Chairman of the Fire and Police Committee. Said appointment was accepted by Mr, Brenner. Motion by John Collier .seconded by N.E.. Brenner that the audit of the 'City of Smyrna for 1954 be selected by bids. Voted unanimous, Motion by V.R. Voting unanimous, NOTICE OF INTRODUCTION AND PENDENCY OF ORDINANCE BEFORE THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SMYRNA AUTHORIZING THE PAVING OF GUTHRIE STREET IN SAID CITY GEORGIA, COBB COUNTY: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Notice is.hereby given: 1. That at a regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Smyrna,, held at seven -forty-five o'clock P. M. on Monday, November 1, 1954, at the City Hall, an ordinance was introduced by Councilman V. R. Siddall and seconded by Councilman John Collier, providing that Guthrie'Street in the City of Smyrna, shall be paved with curb and gutter. Copy of said proposed ordi- nance is hereto attached and made a part hereof. 2. That the street proposed to be paved with curb and gutter in said ordinance is Guthrie Street in the City of Smyrna. Said proposed ordinance provides that a portion of Guthrie Street in the -City of Smyrna, being a distance of 600 lineal feet from the northern intersection of Guthrie Street with Powder Springs Street in the City of Smyrna, to the southern intersection of Guthrie Street with Hillside Drive in the City of Smyrna be paved with curb and gutter. 3. That said proposed ordinance provides that a portion of Guthrie Street in said City, as above described, be paved with curb and gutter in a uniform width of twenty-two (221) feet from back of curb to back of curb; such paving to be of an asphalt type and such curb and gutter to be concrete and to be what is known as 12" x 2411 roll top curb and gutter. Y 4. That the estimated cost per front foot to the abutting property owners for such contemplated improvements as above described is $1.25 per front foot of the property in the City of Smyrna abutting on Guthrie Street on the east and west sides thereof. 5. That if such contemplated improvements as herein described are erected all persons owning property on the aforesaid designated portion of Guthrie Street in said City, shall be subject to a pro rata assessment of the cost of said improvements against their properties. 6. That all persons owning property fronting or abutting.on said street in the City of Smyrna, and all other persons interested in any way in subject matter, are hereby notified and directed to appear at a meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Smyrna, to be held on the 22nd day of November, 1954, at seven -forty-five o'clock P. M. in the City Hall of said City, then and there to make any objections that they may desire to urge against the passage of the proposed ordinance herein described, copy of which is attached and made a part hereof.
