Wood.* ' Motion Murray- Sonenberg, seconded R. H. Wood to adopt Minutes ad read. Motion D. M. Scarborough,useconded R. H. Wood that the ordinance introduced at the June 4th, 1956 meeting authorizex?g the paving of Corn Road from Spring Street to A nderson Circle be adopted. Voted unanimous. Motion A. V. Bolton, Seconded D. M. Scarborough that the ordinance intridi d at the June 4th, 1956 meeting authorizing the paving of Fuller Street be held in obeyance until next Council meeting. For the Street Com-mittee to investigate and report back. Voted unanimous. Motion A. V. Bolton, seconded D. 1VI. Scarborough that the ordinance intro- duced at the *June 1$, 1956 meeting authorizing the curb and guttering of Powder Springs Street from Eastfield Road to Birch Street,'be adopted. Voted unanimous. Motion D. M. Scarborough seconded J. G. White that the ordinance intro- duced at the June 4, 1956 meeting authorizing the resurfacing with curb and gutter of Dell Avenue from Evelyn Street to McLinden Avenue, be approved. Voted unanimous. An ordinance was introduced by Councilman D. M. Scarborough., seconded by Councilman N. E. Br"eaner that McLinden Avenue be improved by the construc- ion on each side with a concrete curb and gutter and resurfacing. Copy of said ordinance attached to these minutes and made a part thereof. Move for adoption of Section 6 and 7 of ordinance for construction of concrete curb and gutter and resurfacing McLinden Avenue, by D. M. Scarborough and seconded by N. E. Brenner. Voted unanimous. Petition presented requested curb and gt?tf'er` 'o' h Powder Springs Street from Atlanta Street to. Eastfield Road. Mrs. Rayford Mank reported that'a-Hehlth Council meeting would be held. July lo, 1956 at the First Baptist Church, to organize the Clinton Reed Health Center being backed by the Young Matroris' League of Smyrna, re- questing that the city furnish site, building and facilities. Mayor referred to Parks and Building Committee for immediate action the site and temporary building for Health Center. Motion A. V. Bolton, seconded N. E. Brenner that the City Council go on record as approving the action taken'by'the Young Matrons' League. Mr. •Lou •Schreibman, Director of Civil Defense requested Council to go record -as approving the Auxilaryy Police as reorganized. Auxiliar Police referred to Police Committee s9heduled to meet July'10,'19569 at p.m. 2185 .The Walkie Talkies as requested by the Civil Defense referred to Finance Committee. Councilman Scarborough reported that the paving ordinance that was nova before Council would cost $3.50 per lineal foot. Engineer Presley was requested tp make change in ordinance on kind of material set forth for the base of the paving. Motion -Do M. Scarborough_, seconded J. E. Scarborough Retired. -City Attorney Willingham explained the•contraet which had been drawnup in � expectancy of giving water and sewerage service to one thousand houses be brought into the City Limits on property known as the Crowe_ and Argyle between Spring'Road and Old Highway #41. Motion N.E. Brenner, seconded Murray Sonenberg that the price for water service lines be the prevailing rate of waterpipe. Voted unanimous, Motion A. V. Bolton, seconded by N. E; Brenner that the firm of Merritt and Welker Engineering, of Marietta, Georgia, be employed to do the en= gineering work an the proposed new water storage tank for the city and that the engineers contract• submitted and considered at the within meeting be approved and the Mayor authorized to execute and clerk to attest same for and on behalf of the City.. Copy of said contract to be attached of the within meeting at the end there of and this reference here to made a part of same. All previous action of, Mayor and Council an contracts are hereto repealed. Voted unanimous. Motion J. E. 'Johnson, seconded J. G. White that the Police Committee r6commend that acting Police Chief, Marshall C. Tanner be appointed Chief Tanner. Voted unan mous. Zoning hearing on the G. F. Brown property located on tte north west corner of Atlanta and Love Streets be set for the next regular meeting of Council August 6, 1956. Motion A. V. Bolton, seconded J. E; Johnson that a finance report be published in the newspaper each quarter. Voted unanimous. Motion Murray Sonenberg, seconded A,. V. Bolton that Mr. Presley be authorized to recommend and approve raises for his men in his department .not to exceed 10% of the previous rate.
