04-11-1955 Regular Meeting219 Continuation of regular meeting of mayor and Council was' -held April 11, 1955 at 8:00 PM at the City Hall, Mayor James E. Quarles presiding with the following Councilman present: N. E. Brenner, V. R. Siddall, A. M. Poston and Jean E. Johnson., Minutes of the meeting held April 4, 1955 read as a matter of information. Mr. Claude Leslie ask permission to park commercial trailer on his property while repairs were being ma�'e to trailor. Motion by N.. E. Brenner seconded by A. M. Poston that permission, by granted to Mr. Claude Leslie to park trailor on property located jl at 197 Spring Street until April 24, 1955. Voted unanimous. - �Mr. Roy Pope requester sewerage be extended on Fuller Street a distance of approximately-f450 feet to serve four families. Mr. H. G. Poss reported that the County had brought their machinery in and was ready to go to work to remedy the water problem on the east side of McCauley Road. Motion by N. E. Brenner seconded by J. F. Johnson that we charge for water on the basis of a 1.50 min. for the first 1,500 gal. per unit.. All-over forty cents per thousand gal. on multipable apartments (meaning five (5) or more. Voted unanimous. Motion by N. E. Brenner seconded by V. R. Siddall that Mr. Charles R. Thomas be elected City Superintendent. Voted unanimous. Motion by'N. E. Brenner seconded by A. M. Poston that a subdivision in the City limits of Smyfna or a subdividor whose property adjoins property that has been accepted for incorporation into the City pay for water line at the rate of seventy five cents per lineal foot plus seventy five dollars(75.00) for water taps. Voted unanimous. Motion by Jean E. Johnson seconded by V. R. Siddall that Fire Chief Thomas be authorized to negociate with Peter Perch Co. to change from the present 6 cyclinder defective motor on Ford fire truck to a ,�- ' 8 cyclinder with a cost involved of approximately eight dollars (80.00). Voted unanimous. Motion by N. E'. Brenner seconded by J. F. Johnson that the two tax assessors pay be raised to 1150.00 instead of the original figure of $100.00 each for the job. Voting for, Poston, Brenner, and Johnson. Voting against, Siddall. Recently resigned city Supt. L. E. Watts request for a paid vacation referred to water and sewerage Comm-Ittee. Vacation schedule for the Fire department referred to Fire Committee. Police Chief Epps reported that Mr. Bill Ward had agreed to give 4 or 5 acres for a new Police Station and City Hall.
