03-14-1956 Special MeetingG C? 9 A special meeting of mayor and "ouncil was held March 14,1956 at the City Hall at 8 P. M. Mayor James E. Quarles called the meeting to,order with the follbwing Councilmen present: N. E. Brenner, A. V. Bolton, John S. Collier, J. E. Johnson, Murray Sonenberg, D. M. Scarbrough and R. H. Wood. Mr. V. R. Siddeltl. called attention to the bad condition of King Street between W. Spring and Stephens street. Mr. J. V. Wooten presented petition signed by a iiajority of the business men in reference to their business license. Mayor Quarles assured Mr. Wooten that the petition would be payed on tQ-the License .for study or recommendation. Mr. McEntyre of Mimosa. Circle called attention to the traffic hazard on Mimosia Circle caused by the parl�ing of cars. A. V. Bolton Chariman of License Committee reported that his committee unaminously recommended to leave the business license ordinance as it naw exist concerning the cafe, and drug store license. Me. do A. Ward Jr. President of 'Belmont hills Co. requested the unanimous approval of the license committee in changing the business license ordinance so the five (5) ems at Belmont Hills Amusement Park would come under one license instead of five as they were seasonable business. Motion J. E. Johnson second J. S, Collier that a two (2) hour parking limit be set on Mimosa. Circle from 7 A. M, till 6 P.M. Voted unanimous. Motion J. E. Johnson second A. V. Bolton that the additional police car be purchased as set up in the budget and no additional policemen would be needed to man this car. Voting for: Johnson,Searbrough,Wood, Bolton, and Sonenberg- Voting Against: Brenner and CCollier Councilmen Wood requested that business license and requested expiring licenses. consideration concerning the ,written notices be sent out on John S. collier reported that the Southeastern Underwriters A'ssoc.. Pointed out the necessaty of an new fire truck before the Insurance rate could be lowered. Letter from Fire Chief P. A. Bond requestion Captains rating for two (2) men in his department referred to Fire Committee with recommendation to be made at next meeting. Mayor Quarles Retired Mayor Pro -Tim Brenner Took Chair. Mr. John Collier requested consideration be given to Mr. A. Kieffer on the bill for water and sewerage on Oakdale Dr. in Brookwood Subd. Mr. Kieffer expressed a desire to give note in the amount of $3,476.00 to the City till July,1956/ Mayor Pro -Tim Brenner referred Mr. Kieffers request to tre Finance Committee and collection of said bill to be held open till next Council Meeting first of i pril. M"Yor Quarles Returned. �Gouncilmen JohnColli.er letter of resignation read and accepted effective when Councilmen Collier successor had been anpointed.
