The regular meeting of Mayor and Council was held March 5,
1956 at the dity Hall at 7 :45 P. M. Mayor James E. Quarles,
presiding with the follouring Councilmen present: N. E. Brenner
, A. B. Bolton, John Collier,D. M. Scarbrough, Murray Sonenberg
and R. H. Wood& J. E. Johnson
Motion D. M. Scarbrough second Murray Sonenberg to adopt minutes
as read. Voted MU=- .
Dr. L. H. Artherton, Dr. W. H. Dunaway and Dr. Robert Landers
reauested information concerning their business license.
Mr. Hal Carlton of the Kessler Company gave a resanay of theLl
work needed on the elevated water tank;" "
Mr. Gardner Pe.tter of Kennesaw Land Company requested infor-
mation on the bill for sewer -taps in Greenhill Subd.
Motion J. E. Johnson second R. H. Wood that a 30 day extension
be granted to Greenridge Subd(Mr. A..0. Denson) on the balance -
due for sewer taps in Greenridge Subd. Voted unamious. Sonenberg
obstained.
Mr. Paul. A.i_te of Dell Avenue requested estimat6d cost of curb -
and gutter for his street.
The problem of Dr. Atherton,0unaway and Landers concerning
their business license referred to License Comittee with Agree-
ment to meet on Tuesday March 12,1956 At 7 P.M.
City Attorney Willingham explained the Home Rule Bill which
was defeated in the last meeting of the Legislature.
Motion N. E. Brenner Second D. M. Scarbrough that all builders
be notified that sewer taps in the ground if Paid for in the
next 30 days would ,be 150.00 after said period of time they
t,.Tould cost 200.00,. the prevailing rate. Vote unanimous.
Motion Sonenberg second,brenner that the default Payment of
Brookwood Subd, be turned over to City Attorn_y for collection
as - the property has changed hands. Voted unanimous
Motion N. E. Brenner second D. M. Scarbrough that the Plumbing
Ordinance be changed as follows:
Section 107, page (35) next the last paragraph and last nara-
grapl! to be admended to read as follows;
No 211 waste pipe will be allowed under concrete.
All kitchen sink wastelines shall be not less than 3 " in size. Ze reason for changing to a 3" sink line is because of the
washing machines, dish washers and garbage disposals being
placed on this line at a later date, and a 2 " line will not
carry this many units. Motion Carried --Johnson obstaining.
Motion R. H. Wood second J. E. Johnson that the Park Committee
be authorized to spend fcr recreation facilities a maximum
of $125,000.00 . Copy of proposal expenditures attached to
these minutes and made a part there of. Vote unanimau�;.
Motion Murry Sonenberg second D. M. Scarbrough that new locks
be installed on the doors of the City Hall and Engineers Office
with the Chairman of Building Committee to make requisition
of keys, also a letter slot be installed in front door for
bill collection for after hours collection. Vote*unamimous
Motion N. E. Brenner second Scarbrough to continue meeting
Friday April 9th.
