02-06-1956 Regular Meeting.�s The regular -meeting of Mayor and Council was geld February 6, 1956 at the City Hall at 7:45 P.M. Mayor James E. Quarles presiding with the following Councilmen present; N.E. Brenner, A.V. Bolton, D:.M, Scarbourgh,, Murray Sonnenberg, and R.H. Wood. Motion N.E. Brenner seconed A.V. Bolton to correct the m6tion covering the cost of water line to i-ead seventy five cents (75(0) per froAt footage or one dollar fiftr cents (1.5Q)) per lenial foot. Voted unamin6us. r Motion N.E. Brenner second R.H. wood that the minutes for all.of the January meeting be adopted. Voted unaminous. The hearing on the rezoning of Fred Matthews property located at 381 N. Atlanta St cprmer pf Fleming St. opened. These appearing and speaking against said rezoning were the following; Elder Bramblett,. Mr. R.C. Alexander., J.E. Diggs, Mrs. Mapp. and Homer Durham in behalf of his mother. Mr. Fred Matthews appeared in his own behalf. Motion N.E. Brenner seconed R.H. Wood that the Fred Matthews property located at 381 N. Atlanta Street not be zoned for business. Voted unaminous. Hearing on the rezoning of C.L. McCoy,located 260 Hickoy Hill Dr. for the raising of dogs was opened. Those appearing and speaking against said rezoning were the following: Dewey (:,.Hardy, Reed Palmar, Rohn Tatum, B.T. Morgan, O.M. Eason, H.H. Morris, and Miss Imogene Keck. Those appearing and speaking for said rezoning were the following: George Jeffer•ies, Fuller St. James H. Jefferies and C.L. McCoy. Motion J.J-;. Johnson seconed Murray to rezong his property located 260 Hickory Hill Dr. Be denied. Voted unaminous. Mr. Raymond Mulkey in behalf of M.H. 'Tatum and W. H. Beshersrequested the rezoning of the Beshers property on S. Atlanta St. in t%r8,seperate plot,- .for business and industry. The rezoning of the M.H. Tatum property on the east side of W&A Railroad for industry. N.�. Brenner chairman Planning and Zoning Committee set Monday February 27, 1956, 8 P.M. at the City Hall as the time and place for the hearing on the rezoning of the said Beshers and Tatum property. Mr. Paul White of Dell Ave ask for information concerning the constucting ofcmrbing and gutter on Dell Ave. Captain Knnatzar requested estimate cost of curb and gutter on Mc Lendon Ave so new petition could be presented. Cit attorney Willingham reported that the b1ll,s ad passed the legislature and.er7ate bliminating they n that you had to be a rebistared voter in the county to be abt to vote in the city election and the bill estending the city limits. r C.S. Oatis requested by letter permission to park mobile trailer unit in Belmont Hills Shooping Center to house transit photographer studio was denied as both request were against city ordinances. Motion J.8. Hohns-on seconed L. M. Scarbourgh that the policeman's salary be reduced $5.00 per day and set their subsistence at $5.00 per day. Voted unaminous. Motion D. M. Scarbourgh seconed R.H. Wood that Kenneth Presley be put in charge of all personal consisterycof construction, Street and Side- va]iks: and Sanitary excluding City Hall, Police and "ire department. Voted unaminous. Motion D.M. Scarbrough seconed A.V. Bolton that the Mabeee Dr. and Whitfield St. pAxtition to improve said Magbee, Dr. and Whit- field St. by curb and gutter as adopted ny Mayor and Council be revoked.. Voted unaminous.
