01-24-1955 Continued Regular Meeting20.9 Continuation of the regular meeting January 24, 19550 8:P.M. at the City Hall. Mayor J.E. Quarles presiding with the following Councilmen present: N.E. Brenner, John S. Collier, A.M. Poston, V.R.'Siddall, and G.R. Yarbrough. Meeting was called to order by the Mayor. Rev. Roland Walker presented to Mayor and Council a resolution of The Smyrna Minsterial Association protesting the sale of bee& in the food stores. Rev. Hugh Cauthen spoke on the sale of beer in the food stores, requesting Council to give serious consideration before voting. Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by A.M. Poston that Mr. & Mrs. Price be granted leave to park onehouse trailor not for living purposes at 144 Lee Street a maximum of 15 days from time it arrives. Voted unanimous. Letter from 'Charles L. Miles 477 Dell Ave. requesting that his property be zoned for business, referred to planning and zoning Committee. Motion by A.M. Poston, as chairman of the license Committee. - I would like to make the motion that the license for' the sale of beer for 1955 be approved as presented by the license committee - Seconded by V.R. Siddall. Motion by G.R. Yarbrough to amend original motion in that the license to be issued excepting the grocery stores, seconded by A.M. Poston. Voting for- Poston, Collier, and Yarbrough. Voting against, Siddall and Brenner. 6 Motion by A.M.*Po'ston, seconded by V.R. Siddall that the schedule of business license as presented by the license committee be adopted as corrected for 1955. said schedule attached and made a part thereof of these minutes. Voted unanimous.' Motion by A.M. Boston: seconded by V.R. Siddall that all business license shall be paid:by the 28th February 1955 and that no person, firm or corporation shall be issued license to do business in the City until all past due advalorium tax and other tax due City of Smyrna have been, paid. Voted• unan(Imous. Motion by N.E. Brenner, seconded by V.R. Siddall that the following men be sworn in as policemen:* Herbert E. Brown, Kenneth Frazier, and R.D.
