A special meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the
City Hall October 19, 1953 7:45 P.M. Mayor G.N. Duncan presiding
with the following Councilmen present, Harry Mitchell, John
Collier, and G.R. Yarbrough.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by John Collier that cloth
election banners be permitted to be strung across the streets
in the City for this and ny, election, provided these banners
do not imply- indorsement the City govenment with permission
to be given thru the City C erk. Voting unanimous.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by Harry Mitchell that the property
located at the northeast corner of Powder Springs St. and Grady
St. know as 170 Powder Springs St. now occupied by Mrs. Edith
Watkins. be zoned for grocery business as stated in the application
for T.F. Reed dated September 7, 1953. Hearing date on rezoning
said property set for November 2, 1953 at 7:45 P.M,,.with legal
advertising and posting of said property as set 'forth in City
Charter.
Motion by Harry Mitchell, seconed by John Collier to adjourn.

A special meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the
City Hall October 26, 1953 7:45 P.M. Mayor G.N. Duncan presiding
with the following Councilmen present, John Collier, H.L. McEntyre
C.M. Hamby., Harry Mitchell., G.R. Yarbrough.
Motion by C.M. Hamby:, seconded by H.L. McEntyre that the City
pay for the two banners fcr the Miss Georgia Reception. Voting
unanimous.
Motion by H.L. McEntyre, seconded by John Collier to grant a
leave cf absence till January 2, 1954 to A.P. Hodnett. Voting
unanimous.
Motion by G.R. Yarbroi.igh, Seconded by C.M. Hamby that any city
employee be paid .07 cents a mile for use of his car on City
business.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by Harry Mitchell to adjourn.
