The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City
Hall, August 3,.1953 at 7:45 P.M. Mayor Pro-tem H.L. McEntyre
presiding at the meeting with the following Councilmen pres-nt:
John Collier, Harry Mitchell, Jr. C.M. Hamby and G.R. Yarbrough.
Minutes of previous regular meeting read. Motion by C.M. Hamby,
seconded by John Collier to approve minutes as read. Voting unanimous.
Motion Harry Mitchell, seconed C.M. Hamby to notify property owner
D.C. Osborn that he had 60 days to comply with the city ordance on
privies. Voting unanimous.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconed by Harry Mitchell that a public
hearing be set for Aug. 10, 1953 to -consider issuing a permit to Mr.
Warren Day for a skating rink to be built behind Earl Cobbs Service
Station on N. Atlanta St. subject to the approval of the Planning
and Zoning Board. With property owners to be given written notice.
Voting unaminous.
Motion G.R. Yarbrough seconded by John Collier that Howard McCollumis
request for a paid vacation be turned over to the Finance Committee
for consideration and discussion and to recommend to -Council. Voting
unaminous. a
Mrs. Rose Schreibman, came before Council wanting help from the city
in .putting in drain pipe at the Fruit Bowl. Referred to Building and
Parks to investigate and report back. -

Mr. Yancy of the Farm Equipment Edchange of 555 Marietta Rd, Atlanta
explained his different kind of trailors that could be adapted to
the Cities uses.
Motion Harry Mitchell, seconed John Collier that the assistant Clerk
salary be raised to $45.00 a week. Voting unanimous.
Motion Harry Mitchell, conded John Collier that all three tax
ass6ssors be paid $1.00 a h and the Clerk be paid for her extra
time on tax books. Voting unaminous.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconed John Collier that $20.00 be given
toward the reconition of Miss Georgia. Voting unaminous.
Motion John Collier, seconed by G.R. Yarbrough to buy battery for Garbage
truck. Voting Unanimous.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconed by John Collier to absorbe the light
bill of the Chamber of Commerse. Voting Unanimous.
Motion by John Collier, seconded by G.R. Yarbrough to adjourn.
