A Special meeting of the Mayor and Go.uncil.was held at the
City Hall June 9, 1954 7:45 P.M. Mayor G.N. Duncan presiding
with the following Councilmen present. N.E.Brenner, John°Collier,
H.L. McEntyre and V.R. Siddall.
Purpose of meeting to discuss and take action on renting a
piece of heavy equipment, the Backhoe.
Motion by N.E. Brenner, seconded by V.R. Siddall that -the City of
Smyrna rent backhoe from W.C. Gaye and Co. and authorize the Mayor
to sign and the clerk to:attest such contract. Voting unanimous,
Letter of resignation of L.E. Watts read.

Pro-tem H.L. McEntyre presiding with the fo1loTiing Councilmen
present: G.R. Yarbrough, N.E. Brenner, V.R. Siddall, and John
Collier.
A, group of citizens from Little Concord Road requested that
Someth ing'be done about the'overloaded disposas plant. '
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded lay V.R. Siddall that Mr. Watts
be authorized to take necessary steps to eliminate condition at
the disposal plant, laying pipe. from plant to Knickajack Creek
if necessary. Voting unanimous.
Mr. -George Kreeger, Jessie Bailey and Leslie Camp representing
the Nelms Lodge requested that W. Spring Street not be made a
one way street and sidewalks be placed on'North Side of street.
Councilman Siddall stated that nothing had been"proposed on the
side walk and no one way street had been recommended by the
street committee. That by Widening the Street it would not -be
necessary to do so.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by N.E. Brenner that the CO-Stx
of a Sewer tap in'any section of the Corp. Limits of Smyrna be
$150,.00 per single family unit. Multiple unit dwellings excepti able.
Voting unanimous.
Recapping business license of Fouts Service Station referred to,
Licence Committee.

Amendments to be added to Plumbing Ordinance, City of Smyrna,
Georgia, Code of May 5, 1952.
Section 124, Page 41., to be changed to read a lows:
MATrERIAL
Sec. 124. (a) The house sewer shall be
of cast iron, vitrified clay, concrete or
orangeburg pipe.
(b) The house drain :.all be of cast iron
rP lead or brass to a point not less than five
feet (5) from the building foundation walls.
Cast iron pipe shall be not less than med-
ium weight. Sewers laid through filled earth
shall be run of Cast Iron or Orangeburg Pipe.

would like for this not to.happen again. Would like to see all
Councilmen give him their complete backing.
Motion by G.R.-Yarbrough, seconded by N.E. Brenner that we
authorize Weidman and Singleton to draw •plans for a..400,, 000
Gallon Per Day Sewerage treatment plant. Motion Carried.
Voting for- Yarbrough, Brenner and Siddall
Voting Against- Collier.
Motion by V.R; Siddall, seconded by Jolin Collier that the Ordiance
regulating Sub -Division of Land and approval of Plats within the
Corporate Limits of Sm;vrna Georgia as read by G.R. Yarbrough be
adopted. Attached to and make a part thereof of these minutes.
Voting unanimous.
Proposed Fire Code to be sent to City attorney to read and
to be referred back to Council.

Continuation of regular meeting June 19, 19549 9:N.M. Mayor
G.N.. Duncan presiding with the following Councilmen present,
N.E. Brenner, John Collier, and G..R. Yarbrough.
Commercial water rates and sewer taps for apartment units
referred to Chairman and Finance Committee John Collier.
Request made that a payroll check with a detachable stub be
adopted by the City.
V.R. Siddall reported that be was communicating with attorney
Willingham about Social Security for the _.City Enployees.
Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by N.E. Brenner that the Police
car be prohibited to go out side city limits at any time except
on Police business or emergapc ies and to the bank in'Marietta.
Voting unanimous.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by V.R. Siddall that the
bill to Belmont Hills Shopping Center be $1.61 per ft. for water
service from road way to distance of 380 ft. Voting unanimous.
Chairman of Finance Committee to contact Mr. Bill Ward on the
$161.00 bill due city.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by John Collier to adjourn.
