The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City
Ha11p June 1, 1953 at 1:45 P.M. Mayor G.N. Duncan, presiding at the
meeting with the following C ouncilmen_present, G.R. Yarbrough, C.M.
Hamby, Harry Mitchell,Jr. and John Collier.
Minutes of regular and special meeting of May read and ep proved.
mr. Jim Manning representative of Center Chemical Co. showed his
line of trash can receptacles and liners. '
Mr. Charlie Dobbs chairman of the Tax Assessors Board reported that
the accessed value of property, stock and fixtures for 1953 would be
about 3,2571,310.00, The date set for' tax hearings would be Saturday
June 27, from 9 to 5.
Mayor Duncan made some changes in Committees as following:
Mayes Hamby from Streets and Sidewalks and License to eater & Sewerage.
John Collier from Water & Sewerage to License. Glenn Yarbrough to Streets
and Sidewalks.
The Mayor invited the Councilmen and their wives, the clerk and her
husband, the Aity Supt. and wife to his cabin at Mountiin Park for a
s teak dinner. June 13th. Motion Mayes Hamby, Seconded by John Collier
that we accept graciously.
Councilmen G.R. Yarbrough to check into and see what could be& done
to speed up digistion at the Disposal Plant.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, seconded by John Collier that the Public
Health Committee be athorized to purchase 12 complete waste cans @ 27.75
and 12 liners @ 4.39. Voting uunanimous.
Council recomended that only City officials be allowed to ride in Police
car.
A committee meeting being called June 3, 1953 for the Finance, Police
and Water Committees.
Motion by C.M. Hamby, Seconded H.L. McEntyre that we haul 2 loads of
gravel for the Presbyterian Manse on Love St. Voting Unaminlus
Motion by C.M. Hamby, Seconded by John Collier that the water Committee
be athorized to, purchase tapping machine for 280.00 and to be paid
for out of Water Revenue Fund. Voting unanimous,
Motion by. Harry Mitchell, seconded by Join Collier that the narks
committee be athorized to byy bases for Ball Park. Voting unft3nQus.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough seconded by H.L. McEntyre to withdraw bill
for digging ditch at Campbell School. Voting for --Yarbrough and McEntyre
Voting against-- Mitchell, Collier and Hamby. _----
Motion C.M. Hamby, Seconded by John Collier that we charge Cobb County
School Board 10cents per ft. in lieu of .20 per ft. Voting unaninous.
Motion by C.M. Hamby, Seconded by Rohn Collier to refer to the Finance
Committee the buying of 2 new tires for ditcher.
The proposed sewerage on Stephens St. that City Engineer Grist presented
was referred to Water and Sewerage Committee to study and present
proposal to Council.
Motion by G.R. Yarbrough, Seconded by H.L. McEntyre to retire.
