05-18-1953 Special Meeting'A sPe cial meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City
Hall, May 180 19530 7:45 P.M. Mayor G.N. Duncan presiding with
the following Councilmen present: H.L. McEntyre, John Collier,
G.R. Yarbrough, C.M. Hamby, City Attorney Willingham, City Engineer''
T.L. Grist presen#.
Geo. W. Johnson of 172 Walker Street who was ask to be present at
Council meeting in reference to his appearance of his yard was
was complimented on its appearance.
Motion by C.M. Hamby, Seconded by-G.R. Yarbrough, that the city was
negligent in not filling up hole or putting up barrier on Church
Street and to pay for fixing Mr. Roland Williams car_ of 199 Reed St.
Voting Unanimous.
Motion.by John Collier, Seconded by H.L. McRntyre to adopt the parking
ordance attached and made a part thereof of the minutes of this meeting.
Voting Unanimous.
Motion by C.M. Hamby, seconded by H.L. McEntyre to purchase additional
used ford Garbage truck for $495.00 Voting unanimous
Mayor Duncan reported that on May 13, 1953 the City had -a surprise
Fire drill and it took only 6 minutes for the truck to get to
Ventura rd in Belmont Hills.
The ordance on the Building line on West Spring St. refered to
regular June Meeting. _
City Engineer T.L. Grist reported that it would cost $7,3, 000.60to
put sewerage in the remain#ing older street of Smyrna,
The Council r ecomended that cards be sent to all water customers with
the Police and Fire emergency phone numbers listed.
Motion by C.M. Hamby, seconded by G.R. Yarbrough to adopt the
following vacation schedule;
Employees vho have been regularly employed 12 mo.
-on-1st of Feb. -each year will be given 1 week vacation
with pay.
Employees who have been regularly employed for 24 mo.
as -of -1st of Feb-. each -year will be given 2 weeks
vacation with pay.
Vacations must be approved by committee governing,th e
Dept with the approval of the Ma7,pr,
Regularly employed is constructed to mean service
uninterrupted and on full time bases.
Motion by John Collier, Seconded by G.R. Yarbrough to purchase sign
to inforce the new parking ordance. Voting unanimous.
Motion by H.L. McEntyre, seconded by John Collier to adjourn.
