The regular meeting of the Mayor. and Council iras held at the
City Hall April- 5, 1954 7•:45 P.M. Mayor Pro-tem H.L. McEntyre
presiding with the following Councilmen present, G.R-. Yarbrough,
N.E.. Brenner, V.R. Siddall., and John.Collier. ,
Minutes of previous meeting read and'approved.
Veto of Mayor Duncan dated March 30, 1954 on employing the 7th
policeman read. Attached to and made a part thereof of these
minutes.

Mrs. Charles Clackum request for water service at the corner of
King Spring Road and South Cobb Dr. referred to water and
Sewerage Committee..
The residence of Church and Stephens Street was represented
by a, large number requesting sewerage' on their street i.mmediatel.y.
t Mr. Charles McCollum of Hickory Hill Drive request for. a wider
paved street or compensation referred to street -and sidewalk'
committee to work closer with residence of said street and report
back. t
D.G. Hardy of 317' Hickory Hill Dr, came before Council in regard
to dirt dumped on his property, t
Mr. John Bradfield requested that Mann Street be widened.
Petition for extension of water service on Concord Rd. to
rail road react.
Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by John Collier that the tax
Payers money cannot be used to help defray expense of beauty
contest. Voting unanimous.
Letter from Commissioner ?rlard read requesting financial help
with dog pound. Referred to Sanitation Committee.
Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by John Collier that we
widen and pave W. Spring St. with curb at a. cost of e325.00 to.
City. Voting unanimous.
Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by N.E.`Brenner that Mr. M.C.
Tanner be employed as the 7th Policeman.. Voting unanimous.
Motion by V.R. Siddall., seconded by N.E: Brenner that Mr.. Tanner.°
pay ,be retroactive to 17th March, 1954. Voting for, Brenner,
Yarbrough, and. Siddall, Voting against, Collier. Motion Carried.
Motion by N.E. Brenner, seconded by V.R. Siddall that Police Chief
May be relieved and to'receive regular pay with expensives involved
paid by City to attend the Police School far"8 weeks in Atlanta.
Voting unanimous.
Chairman of Finance Committee reported that the contract for the
renovation of the building for police and Fire Hept went to
Ralph Lewis, Jr. for •$1, 590.00 with out doors.
Motion by N.E. Brenner, seconded. by V.R. Siddall that the following
plumbing ordinance be revised.. Vn-The following to be added to
Section 90, Page 27.
(B ) Each residence built for resale, apartments,
or other dwelling unit for rent shall be
roughed in for a wash.ing.machine.
The following to be added to Section 107, page 35. y
(A) Washing machine may be nut on a 2" sink line,
provided it is not more than 51 rom the vent.
Voting unanimous.
A'tion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by N.E. Brenner that the matter
of Dunton Rest Home be referred to license committee with
authority to act. Voting unanimous.
Motion_ by V.R. Siddall, seconded by N.E. Brenner that Mr, Watts
be given authority to let job for overhauling fire truck -motOrrlo
to the lowest bidder. Voting Unanimous.

Motion by John Collier, seconded by V.R. Siddall to purchase four
8.25 ten ply hood tires with tubes for old fire truck for $156.00 ,
and our old tires. Voting unanimous..
Lotion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by G.R. Yarbrough that the truck
drivers maximum pay be set at $1.20 per hr. Authority given Mr.
watts to set as' -he sees fit. voting unanimous.

A special meeting of the Mayor and Council was held April 15, 1954
at the City Hall with Mayor G.N. Duncan Presiding with the following
Councilman present, N.E. Brenner, John Collier, V.R. Siddall, and
H.L. McEntyre.
Purpose of meeting- request of Fire Committee.
Motion by V.R. Siddall, seconded by H.L. McEntyre that the Fire
Committee be given athority to hire two firemen with $450.00
blanket salary effective April 26, 1954. Voting Unanimous.
Open house for the new Fire Department to be held May 15, 1954 from
2 :30 to 6 CO Clock.
The problem of Bob Lewis concerning windows at the Tavern referred
to Attorney Willingham.
Motion by John Collier, seconded by V.R. Siddall that the Finance
Committee be given authority to furnish and eauipt the new
Fire Dept. building. Voting unanimous.
Motion by John Collier, seconded by H.L. McEntyre for permission
to be granted Little League Ball team to erect light Poles at
park at their own expense and City would pay monthly light bill.
Voting unanimous.
Motion by John Collier, seconded by H.L. McEntyre that the Mayor
shall set closing date on all sealed competive bids for Drices
and jobs quoted for City work with bids to be opened in the presence
of Mayor and City Clerk or at a regular Council meeting. Voting
unanimous.
Motion by John Collier, seconded by V.R. Siddall to adjourn.
