03-20-1953 Special MeetingThe Mayor and Council held a special meeting at the City Hall March 20, 1053, 7:30P.M. Mayor _Guye N. Duncan, presiding with the follow- ing Councilmen present, H.L. McEntyre, Glenn Yarbrough, C.M. Hamby, John Collier and Harry Mitchell. Motion by Councilman Yarbrough, Seconded by Councilman Hamby that by mutual agreement Mrs Mary M. Benson and City of Smyrna, that Woodale Drive, Trailwood Drive, Benmac Road, and that portion of Kennesaw Drive, lying between intersection of Crld Spring Road and Trailwood Drive be curbed, Mrs. Mary M. Benson to furnish material and City of Smyrna to furnish labor. Vote unanimous. The matter-of,Old Spring Road: and Beverly Hills Drive, the, same street with two names was taken up. Matter tabled. To be discussed with Mr. Ward. Motion by Councilman Mitchell, Seconded by Councilman McFntyre to accept Insurance Contract with Travelers Insurance Co. To swap the Life Ins. plan now in effect to a group plan, with city to pay �2.00 per person insured. Vote unanimous. All voting but Councilman John Collier. Motion by Councilman Mitchell, seconded by Councilman Yarbrough for Police Dept. to purchase Ethyl Gasoline from cheapest dealer,in City of Smyrna. Vote Unimimous. The burning of lot behind E.B. Hughes house on Potrder Springs -St. ref,ered to Councilman H.L. Mc Rntyre. Copy of Charges to be given all owners bf trailers inside city limits of Smyrna. Motion by Councilman McEntyre, Seconded by Councilman Mitchell to give Merchants three days from time of notifing to obtain City Business License or case would be Made against them and brought before court. Motion by Councilman Hamby, Seconded by Councilman Mc, tyre to start work on -parking lot from Powder Springs St. to Cherokee Rd, Mr. Walker to be notified to move his equipment. Vote Unanimous. Letter from Chamber of Commerce read asking for help in erecting 3 Chamber of Commerce signs. .Motion by Councilman McEntyre, seconded by Councilman Collier, authorizing Mr. McCollum to Contact chamber of Commerce that City will furnish pipe and labor only for 'erecting signs. Vote Unanimous. Motion by Councilman Hamby, Seconded by Council McFntyre to athorize Mayor to deliver police cards in best manner. Vote'Unanimous Motion by Councilman Yarbrough, Seconded by Councilman Hamby to athorize Prof. I.E. Saporta of Georgia Teck to use faculities of town in research no cost to city. Vote Unanimous.
