02-24-1953 Special Meeting117 The Mayor And Council held a'special meeting at the City H all February 24,1953,7:30 p.m.. Mayor Guye N.Duncan, presiding with the s'c following Councilmen present,H.L.McEntyre;Glenn Yarbrough, C.M.Hamby,John Collier and Harry'Mitchell. Mayor Duncan pepbrted that a check for t1,869.22 was received from the Ga. Power Co. .Based on percentage of the gross sale of electric powery,in Smyrna for 1952. Motion by Mayes Hamby seconed by Glenn Yarbrough to buy 200 4X4 post for street signs and gave the Street Committee athoritl to purchase signs to go on post. Vote unanimous. Motion by Glenn Yarbrough seconed by John Collier giving building committee athority to have roof put on Council room for the cost of $175.00 with 10 year guarantee. Vote unanimous. Charles Hendrix holder of a State Veterans Business license, applied for free license. Motion by John Collier, Seconded by Mayes Hamby to decline Highland Bakery application for City Business License. Voted'. for-Concilmen, Hamby, Collier,, Yarbrough & Mitchell. Motion by Mayes Hamby, Seconded, John Collier to notify Homer Prather that his services is no,longer needed on full time basis, given two weeks notice.. Voted unanimous. Motion by Harry Mitchell Seconded by Glen Yarbrough to make the following changes in City Hall. 182.74 for 4 fixtures- Council Room 265.00 Mr. White for painting inside and outside of City Hqll. 20.00 2 vents 138.00- Heater- for Council Roon. 288.42- Rewiring and fixtures for City Hall. Voted Unanimous, Councilman Mitchell brough to the attention of the Council the destruction that the Gas Co. had done on Concord Road. Street Chairman Collier to contact Mr. Yancdy and see what could be done. Motion by Glenn Yarbrough, seconded by John Collier that the City of"Smyrna.Furnish water and sewerage for Smyrna Heights Sub -Divisions additi&nal eighty units south to South Cobb Drive at a cost of $225.00 per unit, provided the developer pay one half the cost of installing an adequate sewage lift station and force main. Also the City of Smyrna to furnish water and sewage for Smyrna Hdights exteneion'per plat submitted at a cost of $225,00 per unit provided streets are paved with curb and gutter. Adequate engineering to be furnished -as .required' on both sub -divisions. Vottdd Unanimous. City Engineer T.L. Grist and H.P. McCollum to look over and report to the council what should be,done with the Reed Street side- walk problem. Motion by H.L. McEntyre, Seconded John Collier to raise the Mayor salar', to 50.00 and Councilmen to 25.00, Effective Feb. Check Voted unanimous. Motion by Glen Yarborough to ,6djurn, Seconded by John Collier.
