07-07-1952 Regular MeetingThe regular meeting of 'the Mayor and•Council was held at the City Hall July 72 1952 7:45,p.m. Mayor pro-tem C. M. Hamby, presiding with -the following councilmen present, Glenn Yarbrough, Eugene Rice, Harry Mitchell and C. C. Terrell. City Attorney Harold Willingham and City Engineer M. J. Hensley present. Minutes of regular meeting read. Motion by C. C. Terrell seconded by Eugene Rice to approve minutes as read.. Voted unanimous. Minutes of four call meetings of June read. Motion by Glenn Yarbrough seconded by C. C. Terrell to approve minutes of call meetings as read. Voted unanimous. Motion by Eugene Rice seconded by Glenn Yarbrough to approve plan on Swinks project. Voted unanimous. Mrs. Ossie Sasser came before council in regard to water drain- age on her property located on Hamby St. Mr. Eugene Rice to in- vestigate and report to council. Motion by Eugene Rice seconded by Harry Mitchell to authorize City Attorney to draw ordinance to outlaw outdoor toilets in city limits giving 30 days to comply'with ordinance where sewer- age is available. Voted unanimous. Bill Miles brought to attention.of•council that there.should be a load limit of trucks on roads in the city. Mr. Rice, churn* streets to investigate and report to council. Mr. Ernest Jones, chmn. tax assessors gave report for 1952 tax digest; real estate valuation $1,947,025.00; stock and fixtures, $117,785.00; public utilities (estimated) $ 105,000.00. Motion by C. C. Terrell seconded by Eugene Rice to -accept tax assessors report and that committee should be commended for good work. Voted unanimous. 4 Motion by C. C. Terrell seconded by Eugene Rice to write two letters to all delinquent tax parties and street paving giving 15 days to make payment or to be turned over to city attorney. Voted unanimous. Motion by C. C. Terrell seconded by Eugene Rice to increase tax assessors fee $100.00 above amount set up in budget, $50.00 to be given Mr. Jones and $25.00 each to Mr. Dobbs and Mr. Shepherd. Voted unanimous. Motion by Co C. Terrell seconded Eugene Rice to notify builders no further sewerage and water service to be expected other than already paid for unless appearing before council for approval. Voted unanimous.• Motion by Eugene Rice seconded by C. C. Terrell to pay bills with approval of finance committee. Voted unanimous. Motion by C. C. Terrell seconded by Eugene Rice to employ Mrs. Frances Carson to work in absence of Mrs. Logan. Voted unanimous. Motion by Eugene Rice seconded by C. C.
