06-02-1952 Regular MeetingW 2 o The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City Hall, June 2, 1952 7:45 p.m. Mayor J. M. Gibson, -pre- siding with the following councilmen present, C. M. Hamby,, Eugene Rice, C. C. Terrell, Glenn Yarbrough and Harry Mitchell. City Attorney, Harold Williggham present. Minutes of regular and special meeting read and approved as corrected: motion permitting Bennett to go ahead with septic tanks should read, subject to approval of state health dept. Mr. C. T. Osborn came before council regarding a sewer tap charge. Mr. Osborn was instructed to comply with action of council at May meeting of which hed had been notified by letter regarding sewer tap charge. Mr. Osborn ask council to do something about water drainage in his yard on Spring St. Mr. Rice and Mr. Terrell appointed to investigate situation and report at next council meeting. M. A. Batchler presented a petition for paving of Dunton Ave., to council. Mr. Gibson to check with attorney in regard to line joining county being in center of street. Mr. Rice spokesman fro Jake Nash representing Ment's Club regard- ing ordinance against signs in the city limits. Mr. Rice appoint- ed to investigate. ' Harry Mitchell, chairman..police committee was ask to check as to cost of a fire extinguisher to be used with police car and report to council. An easement signed by Stephen Hall, Jr., Greenhill Subdivision with the City of Smyrna to be filed and recorded in the Clerk's Office, Superior Court, Cobb County. Howard Hames, City Electical Inppector gave proposal on traffic lights to be located, previously voted on. Report on file. Motion by Eugene Rice seconded by Harry Mitchell to add two in- stallation of street lights to 'be located Fuller' at Powder Springs and Pine at Concord, also making Concord Road one way street from Atlanta Street to Church Street going west from Atlanta Street. Voted unanimous. ; Motion by Harry Mitchell seconded by Eugene Rice to place four stop signs at intersection of King and Church Sts. Voted unanimous• Motion by Glenn Yarbrough seconded Harry Mitchell to pay balance $150.00 due Georgia Tech on recent survey. Voted unanimous.
