04-03-1951 Regular MeetingThe regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the
City Hall, April 31 1951, 7: P. M. Mayor J. M. Gibson pre-
siding over the meeting with the following councilmen pre-
sent: P. P. Shaw, H. L. lAcEntyre, Howard Hanes, C. AT. Jones,
and Stanley McCalla. M. J. Hensley, City Engineer and' Harold
Willingham, City Attorney present.
Minutes of previous regular and special meetings read and ap-
proved as read.
Mr. Hery Carson came before the council regarding property of
J. N. Camp which is not shown on the tax books. This referred
to Mr. Ernest Jones and.comnittee for investigation.
Current bills due read by the mayor. Motion by P. P. Shaw,
seconded by Stanley McCalla to,,tDills. Voted unanimous.
Motion by Howard Hanes seconded by Stanley McCalla to give
Mr. J. A. Bailey easement for one sewer'tep as previously
agreed in 1947 although line is not being lain through his
property as then planned. Voted unanimous.
Motion by C. W. Jones seconded by P. P. Shaw to have deliquent
license on businessess in city written to allowing until May 1st
for license to be paid and afterwards 10%lpenalty to be charged.
Voted unanimous.
Motion by Howard Hanes seconded by P. P. Shaw to pay Mr. George
Alexander $ 200,00 for heating system in building purchased from
Mrs. Esther G. Kaplan, located on Spring'St. Voted unanimous.
Motion by H. L. McEntyre seconded by P. P. Shaw to adopt ordi-
nance regulating the size of garbage cans within the city, the
use and location of same, requiring the covering of same and
providing penalty for violations, ordinance attached to these
minutes and made a part thereof. Voted unanimous.
Mr. Stanley McCalla and Mr. C. W. Jones were appointed from the
council to investigate taxi cab rates and adjustments to be made.
Motion by Howard Hanes seconded by H. L. McEntyre to urchase a
two (2) Ton dump truck, Stud.erbaker, purchase price, 92,935.23.
Voted unanimous.
