01-08-1952 Continued Regular Meeting(Contunuation of regular meeting) January 8, 1952 (Tuesday) 8:00 P. M. In the absence of the Mayor the following Councilmen were present: C. M. Hamby, Glenn Yarbrough, C. W.. Jones, and Harry -Mitchell., Jr. Motion made by C. M. Hamby seconded by•Harry Mitchell that Glenn Yarbrough be deligated to act as chairman of the meeting. Voted unanimous. First order of business to elect a Mayor Pro-tem. Motion by Harry Mitchell seconded by C. W. Jones to'elect C. M. Hamby as Mayor Pro-tem. Voted unanimous. Motion by Glenn Yarbrough to reaeUrct Mrs. Theodocion as City Clerk at a salary of $250,00 per month. Seconded by C., W. Jones. Voted unanimous. Motion by Glenn Yarbrough to elect C. B. May as Chief of Police at a salary of $250.00 per month. Seconded by C. W. Jones. Voted unanimous. Motion by Harry Mitchell seconded by Glenn Yarbrough that J. C. Hardy be permitted to remain as Chief of Police until January 12, 1952 at mid night.. Voted unanimous. New Chief of Police pay to begin January 8, 1952. Md,tion by.Glenn Yarbrough seconded by C. W. Jones to elect Bob Taylor his, •Building Inspector. Voted unanimous. Bob Taylor, ask that such agreements regarding the inspections between he and Ralph Lewis be made and subject,to approval of Council. Motion by Harry Mitchell seconded by C. W. Jones to elect the follow- ing to serve as Zoning and Planing Board: Glenn Yarbrough, chairman, Ralph Lewis, Jr., Bob Taylor and C. C. Terrell. Voted unanimous. Motion by C. W. Jones seconded by Glenn Yarbrough to elect the following.to serve on the Electrical Board: Harry Mitchell, Jr., chairman, Inspector, Howard Hames, C. L. Fuss and John Bradfield. Voted unanimous. Motion by Harry Mitchell seconded by C. W. Jones to elect the following to serve on the Plumbing Board: Chairman to be named by the Mayor, W. L. Westbrook, Inspector, Harley Morris and E. E. Brannon. Voted. unanimous. Civil.Defense to be passed over for the present time. Motion by Harry Mitchell, Jr., seconded by C. W. Jones to elect Raymond Reed as City Attorney. Voted unanimous. Motion by C. W. Jones seconded by Harry Mitchell to name E. A. Reece as Sanitary forman at a salary of $45.00 per week. Votedunanimous. Motion by Co W. Jones seconded by Glenn Yarbrough to recess meeting until January 11, 1952 (Friday) 7:30 P. M.
