10-08-1948 Called MeetingOctober 8, 1948. `-'—Afeall meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City Hall October 8, 1948, at 7;30 P. M.., for. the purpose. of establishing rules and regulations for the election to be held Fovember 6,1948 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Lorena P Pruitt with the following members of council present; H. P. McCollum, M. L. Collins and H. L. TvIcEntyre . Motion was made by H. L. McEnt7re, Seconded by H. P. McCollum. that the following men be appointed as Registrars and Election Managers for the regular City election to be held on Nov58,1943; Virgil Cobb, yid. ti . Stewart and E. B. Awtry. Voted Unanimous. The following rules and regulations for the coming elaction were adopted; As provided [•,y.the Charter, Election for Two Councilmen and a Mayor for the term beginning January 3, 1949 will be held on November 6, 1948. Hours of election shall be from P. ivi. to B.P. M. / j' Dead.ling for registration of voters shall be. 12 Noon Oct, 23 1948 Deadlind for qualification for 'Ie2ayor and Councilmen shall be 12 Noon , October 23, 1948. �--. Is - Motion was made by M. L. Collins, Seconded by H. L. McEntyre that the eligibility for voters be the same as last year. It was further agreed that rules and regulations fpr' contesting electionsbe the same as those set forth in the Georgia Code for State Elections. ' Motion was made by H. P. ivicCollum, seconded by +.. L. Collins that the T:Iayor sign the contract attached for use of land of S. S. Edwards Sr. as dumping grounds until filled up. voted unanimous Motion was made by H. P. IvicColltun, seconded by H. L. YcEntyre that Earl Cobb be given a permit to operate a Taxi Cab in the City of Smyrria , Voted unanimous.
