10-04-1950 Regular Meeting240 The regular meeting of the Mayor and -Council was held at the City Hall.October 4, 1950, 7:,30.P. M. - Mayor J. M. Gibson, pre- siding with the following Councilmen present: P. P. Shaw, H. L. McEntyre, Stanley McCalla, C. W. Jones and Howard Hames. Minutes of previous regular meeting and two special meetings read and approved as read. Mr. McEntyre reported Dr. Brawner not interested to register with the City for fire protection. Report from Mr. Howard McCollum, Supt. of Water Department, 807 r, water meters now active. Resignation of W. F. Stewart, member of Zoning Committee read and accepted. Motion made by P. P. Shaw and seconded by H. L. McEntyre to elect Mr. John S. Collier to fill unexpired term of Mr. Stewart on the Zoning committee. Voted unanimous.. Motion made by H. L. McEntyre and seconded by Howard Hame-s to name Councilman Stanley McCalla chairman of Zoning committee. Voted u- nanimous. Councilman Shaw suggest an app. 101I.square map of water system im- rovement and extension to be made and published in newspaper. Motion made by H. L. McEntyre to adopt Mr. Shaw's suggestion and said map to be published with facts and information concerning the water system, -seconded by Mr. Howard Hames. Voted unanimous. Mr. McNelley presents plans for signs of "Welcome" to be erected at Citylimits if approved by the Council, which was approved by the Council. Motion made by P. P. Shaw and seconded by H. L. McEntyre to charge $1.00 sanitary tax to each occupied appartment of Southern Manor, Inc., and toNb illed with the water bill each month. Voted unanimous. Motion made by P. P. Shaw, seconded by Howard Hames to approve plan to run 2" water line, Powder Springs to South Cobb Drive to disposal plant. Voted unanimous. Motion made by P. P. Shaw, seconded by Howard Hames that the City►s interest, if any shall cease as of this date (October 4, 1950) to any part of the alley running from King to Reed Street through Baptist parsonage. Voted unanimous. Motion made by Stanley McCalla to pay current bills as read by the Mayor, sbcbnded by Howard Hames. Voted unanimous. Motion made by Howard Hames, seconded by P. P. Shaw to give 5 gal, of gas per week to Howard McCollum for use in water department, and Mr. MCCollum to report at end of month as to,use. Voted unanimous. Meeting adjourned. Mayor
