09-09-1948 Regular Meeting143 September 9, 1948. A regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held, at the City hall, on September 9, 1948, at 7;30 •P. MI. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Lorena P.-Pruitt with the following members of Council present; P. P. Shaw, H. L. McEntyre, Ivi. L. Collins and- H. P. McCollum. It was noted by Councilman Shaw that Ferguson Construction Company was paid in full for a contract of $-1,441.4.0, by the clerk without first being brought to the attention and approved by the Council. .This action is being rectified in these minutes; H. P. McCollum made a motion, Seconded by P. P. Shaw that the Ferguson Construction Company Contract vlas correctly paid by the clerk, according to the contract on August 6, 1948, Voted unanimous. Motion was made by P. P. Shaw, Seconded by H. L. McEntyre that the 990 feet of 3/4 pipe, on hand, be sold at a Two cent per foot profit enough to defray the,expense of handling ,same. Voted unanimous. ., Motion was made by P: P. Shaer, Seconded by M. L. Collins that Mayor Pruitt be authorized to sign a note for �2,500.00 at the Bank of -Smyrna, to pay outstanding -bills against the general fund and to " pay future bills on same fund until the taxes for the year can be collected. - this note to be for a period of Ninety Days. voted unanimous. Motion made by P. P. Shaw, Seconded by H. P. McCollum that all bills against the General Fund be paid as read, except $59.90 bill of Findley Method which is to be turned over.to the City -Attorney. Voted unanimous. Motion was made by P. P.. Shaw, Seconded by H. P. McCollum that the City.Attorney be authorized to take whatever steps necessary to keep the storm server opwn for the City, between the propdrties of Lorena Face Pruitt and A. K. Brown, on Atlanta Street. Voted Unanimous. The clerk was given authority by Mayor and Council to revoke the Plumbing License of Judson Hamby in the City of Smyrna. By unanimous vote of Mayor and Council J. A. Jeff aces was discharged from the employ of the City for conduct unbecomming a City Employee. Motion by H. L. IicEntyre, Seconded by P. P. Shaw that the City of Smyrna employ H. P. McCollum in the Water Department, at a salary of $100.00 per month, starting on the 16th of September, 1948. voted unanimous. Motion by P. P. Shaw, Seconded by M. L. Collins that the Iv,eeting adjourn, voted unanimous.
