06-05-1950 Regular Meeting224 The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was `held on June 5, 1950 4:30 P. M., making a trip to Vinnings and Pretty Branch Drive to observe two ditching machines in action, by the entire Council. The meeting continued at the City Hall at 6 P. Me, with Mayor J: M: Gibson, presiding. Council men P. P. Shaw, H. L. McEntyre, C. W. Jones, Stanley McCall a and Howard Hames present. Paul Hensley Gity engineer and City At- torney Harold Willingham present also. Minutes of the previous regular meeting and three special meetings were read and approved. Bids were submitted on ditching machines from R. R. Armstrong & Bros., and Yancey Bros. as follows: R. R. Armstrong& Bros., machine;'$60385.00 purchase price, with 2% discount, 10 days, net price, $6,258.30. (new Machine) Yancey Bros., machine; pt8�;5.00900 purchase price, with 2% discount, 10 days, net price, $80330.00,Jubed machine, with guarantee same as new machine) Motion made by Howard Hames and seconded by Stanley McCalla to urchase ditching machine from R. R. Armstrong & Bros., purchase price, 60385.00 with 2% discount, 10 days, total net cost $6,258.30. Voted unanimous. Mr. Sutton, representative of R. R. Armstrong & Bros.,.quoted prices on Jaeger Model--75 Portable Compressor, $2,135.00 total value and rentals as follows: 75 cu f t Compressor $140.00, per month 2 Tampers, 035 per mo. 70.00 two months 2 Air Hose, $6:60- " 13.20 two months 223.2 two months rental Mayor Gibson asked Mr. Hensley, City Engineer to obtain bids for 61, galy, pipe, mechanical joint and open bell to be read at a special meeting of the Council, June 14th. Also to obtain bids on fire plugs. Bids were opened and read on water meters from Rockwell Company as follows: 800 -1000 meters with connections ------- $14.71 400 meters or less with connections.... 18.27 Motion made by H. L. McEntyre and seconded by P. P.-Shaw to purchase 400 meters with connections from Rockwell Company at $18.27 each. Total cost 7,308.00. Voted unanimous. Bid read from Griffin Foundry Company for 80 meteraboxes @ $4.05 each Motion made by P. P. Shaw and seconded by H. L. McEntyre to purchase 80 meter boxes @ $4.05 each from Griffin Foundry Company, total cost $324.00. Voted unanimous. Mr. Hensley stated Hughes to Powder Springs Street had 8831 of 12" pipe, of which 4001 was on private property. Motion made by P. P. Shaw and seconded by Howard Hames to lay 883t of 6" line on Powder Springs Street. Voted unanimous. Mr. Gibson ask that the Council advance $500 as part payment of City Engineerts fee. Motion made by Howard Hames and seconded by Stanley N McCalla tp pay $500 as part payment on Mr. Hensley►s.fee as City Engi- neer. Voted unanimous. Mr. Willingham read ordinance regarding car nusiances. Motion made by P. P. Shaw and seconded by Stanley McCalla to adopt ordinance as -read. Voted unanimous.' Gibson presided over the meeting, the following Councilmen were present; P. P. Shaw, H. L. McEntyre, Stanley McCalla and Howard Hames. City Attorney, Harold Willingham, and City Engineer Paul Hensley present also. Purpose of the meeting to open bids for prices on 6" pipe. Amount needed, 17,000t, stated by Mr. Hensley. Bids were submitted from; American Cast Iron Pipe Company, McWane Cast Iron Pipe Company and James B. Clow & Sons Bids attached to these minutes. Motion made by Howard Hames and seconded by Stanley McCalla to give Mayor Gibson and City Engineer Paul Hensley authority to contact three companies submitting bids on pipe, as to earliest delivery date of at least 520001 pipe, and Council to have a call meeting immediately to decide Company to place order with. Voted unanimous. Motion made by Howard Hames and seconded by Stanley McCalla to give haul- ing of'pipe to James Co Hardy for $7.21 per ton ditch side delivery. Voted unanimous* Bid for New Joy Model WK-80, 105 Cu Ft Portable Air Compressor, from W. C. Caye and Company,.Inc. Bid attached to these minutes. Bid for 75Cu Ft Portable Air Compressor, from R. R. Armstrong Company. Bid attached to these minutes. Motion made by Howard Hames and seconded by H. L. McEntyre to rent Air Compressor 105,Cu Ft type from W. C. Caye and Co., Inc., with option to buy with 100% rental fee to apply on purchase price for a two months per- iod, or 95% rental fee to apply on purchase price,at the end of four months. Rental fee to be A200 per month. Voted unanimous. Motion made by P. P. Shaw and seconded by H. L. McEntyre to'have a complet City map made by Mr. Hensley which will establish the City limits, front footage of each lot to be shown, on map. Fee to be $1350.00, %500 in 90 days and balance to be paid in December. Voting for, P. P. Shaw, H. L. McEntyre and Howard Hames. Voting against, Stanley McCalla. Motion made by Stanley McCalla and seconded by H. L.McEntyre to give City Engineer, Mr. Hensley authority to have 6 prints made of Richardson and Yarbrough sub -division at 20¢ each. Voted unanimous.
