The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held Monday
March 7th, 1949, 7:30 PM at the City Hall. The following
Councilmen were present, P. P. Shaw, M. L. Collins, H. L.
McEntyre, R.-B. Logan.and R. S. Brinson. Mayor J. M. Gibson
;presiding. ,
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved as read.
Bills amounting,to $ 1,171.84 approved for payment.
It was suggested to investigate cost of pumping station
for Cobb County water system of which.a portion is used by
City. John Heck to be contacted on this matter.
F. C. Dabney, Jr. submitted plans. of twelve lots on Walker Court
to be furnished sewerage and water at a cost of �25 per lot for
sewerage, and 650 per lot for water meters. Motion made by H. L.
116Entyre and seconded by R. S. Brinson to accept this plan, giving
F. C. Dabney, Jr. credit for .4"100 for two houses already paid for,,
leaving a balance for sewer taps, .$150 . Voted unanimous.
A group of residents -including Paul Hensley, Jimmy Jones, J. A. Bailey,
P. G. Smith and Jay Foster came in a body to file complaint of store
being built near their homes on Rowwell St., by A. C. Pace. General
complaint as to building the store alone. After some discussion,
Mayor Gibson stated, since the Council had taken action at the previous
meeting and hearing no objection at*that time, issued Mr. Pace a
permit for building, settlement would have to be made between Mr. Pace
and neighbors outside of Council.
Mayor Gibson suggest zoning commission committee^, consistion of one
local business man, one local citizen, and one councilman. This would
be a solution to problems of this nature in the future.
D. E. Cantrell brought to the attention of -'the Council a situation
at the extension of Concord Road, stating the need of a fire plug and
Ga. Power Co. poles being moved before permanent paving of st. is done.
Removal of ,fire plug referred to R. S. Brinson and removal of poles
referred to P. P. Shaw.
W. A. Hammond request for trailer on yard rejected by previous
ordinance stating that no trailer be allowed on grounds in City.
Motion made by R. B. Logan and seconded by R. S. Brinson to write
off City taxes for the year of the death of Mr. Reed Koningsmark.
Voting forP. P. Shaw, H. L. McEntyre', R. B. Logan and R. S. Brinson.
Voting against M. L. Collins.
Advice as to issuing permit to A. C. Pace referred to City Attorneys.

Mayor Gibson stated that donations of $1,000 given by Beauty Craft,
and $ 100 given by Clive Dunt&n would be given toward running water
line to Concord and Access Highway. This was referred to Sly Brinson
and B. F. Reed, Jr. appointed by -the Mayor to work with him.
Motion made by HX.MjEnfyre, to pay Homer Durham five dollars for trip
up on water tank. Seconded by T.B. LagAn . Voted unanimous.
Sly Brinson states that he will go up on water tank at any time free
of charge while serving on Council.
Motion made by R. B. Logan and seconded by R. S. Brinson to install
St. lights on lower Church St, and one on Hill and Hughes Sts., pro-
vided the expense for poles not be involved. Voted unanimous.
The question�as`to faternal Insurance Companies paying license fee
referred to City Attorneys.
Report of P. P. Shaw, St. Paving & Maintenance, chairman,
Ask that�'City Attorney notify Ledbetter &: Co., their money is ready
when minor repairs are made on streets.
States, people on Miedlin St. not interested in having street paved.
To notify all property owners on Whitfield, Love and Church Streets
to appear at Council Thurs. March 17, 7:30 PIT if there is any ob-
jections to paving their streets.
