November 3, 1947
A regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the -City
Hall on November 3, 1947, at 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, Mrs. Lorena P. Pruitt,
with all Councilmen present; H. D. Durham, B. H. Hanson, E. E.
Jackson, H. P. McCollum, and W. A. Quarles.
Mr. Willie Medlin of the Atlanta Fire Department was present and
was personally thanked for his assistance in getting fire equipment
for the City of Smyrna. He was also asked for his advice as to
the proper training volunteer firemen could get outside their work-
ing hours.
G. R. Parker submitted plans for two houses on Church Street to be
built under F.H.A. supervision, approximate cost being $6,000.00
each. Motion was made by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Hanson that
he.be given permits. Motion was unanimously carried.

fro Motion was made by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Hanson, that
'T Leonard Branscome be granted Beer License for the remainder of the
year for the Smyrna Cafe. Motion was unanimously carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Hanson, seconded by fAr. Jackson, that the
name on Liquor License issued to ?1r. C. Lewis on April 11, 1947, be
changed to read "Terminal Liquor Store, W. C. Lewis, Operator".
Motion was unanimously carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Hanson, seconded by Mr. Quarles, that Scout-
master Sherwood Pierce be allowed to use the Chevrolet Pickup Truck
for collecting toys to be given to needy children for Christmas as
often as he , needs it on Saturday afternoon. Motion was unanimously
carried.
Registrars and election holders for election held November 1, being
the same, it was agreed that they be paid $5.00 each for their
services.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
