A meeting of the Mayor and,Council was held at the City Hall
on June 23, 1947, at 7:30 P. M.
The meeting was called -to order by the Mayor, Mrs. Lorena P.
Pruitt, with all councilmen present: B. H. Hanson, H. D. Durham,
E. E. Jackson, H. P. McCollum and W. A. Quarles.
Minutes of June 10 meeting were read and approved.
Motion was made by Mr. Hanson, seconded by Mr. McCollum that
Mr. Edwards, as City Attorney,. cancel contract for the use of

by Mr. Gibson. Motion was carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Quarloypseconded by Mr. Jadksbn;.that
that Mrs. Mittie Williamson continue to pay the minimum charge
for water service while she is out of town even though the water
may be cut off. Motion was carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Jackson, that a
survey be made to establish the city limit lines on Lee, Concord
and Dunn Streets. Motion was carried.
R: E.-Lewis was called before the City Council in regard to the
disorderly conduct in his Tavern: Following a discussion of this
matter, Mr. Lewis was warned that upon any further complaint, his
Tavern would be closed without notice. Motion was made by
Mr. Durham, seconded by Mr. Hanson, that the Tavern be closed for
the night at 11:00 P. M. instead of 11:45 P. M. Motion was
carried.
There was a motion by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. McCollum, that
all bills outstanding against the Construction Account, being
properly approved by Merritt & Welker, Engineers, be paid. Motion
was carried.
Building permits were issued, as follows:
G. B. Williams, f or a house to be built on the right of his
drive and in the rear of his house on Powder Springs Street;
a four -room house with bath, with two porches. Dimensions
will be 261 x 281.
E. G. Turner, for a house, to be built on Whitfield Street
between Howard Goodson and B. A. Cochran; a five -room frame
house with bath, painted white, dimensions 261 x 331, on a
lot 801-x 200t.
Motion was made by Mr. Durham, seconded by Mr. McCollum, to
give Mrs. Mause S. Cheney $150,00, in lieu of the three (3)
sewer taps agreed on at the meeting on May 26, 1947, which is
hereby canceled. Motion was carried.
