June 10, 1947
The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the
City Hall on June 10, 1947, at 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor., Mrs. Lorena P.
Pruitt, with all councilmen present: B. H. Hanson, H. D. Durham, 1
E. E. Jackson, H. P. McCollum and W. A. Quarles.
Minutes of May 26 meeting were read by the Clerk. Motion was made
by Mr. Jackson, seconded by Mr. Hanson that the minutes be approved +
as read. Motion was carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Hanson, seconded by Mr. McCollum that Amos
Clackum be paid amount due him for Loading Machine used in removing
ballast from the car line. Motion was carried.
Because of a mistake in the Water Record Book, for nine months
A. B. Carder paid for the amount of water used by C. T. Lesley and
vice versa. As Carder actually paid $3.75 more than his bills
should have been, he requested a refund. There was a motion by
Mr. Durham, seconded by Mr. Hanson that Carder be refunded this
amount. Motion was carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Hanson, seconded by Mr. Jackson, that a
ditch be dug for E. A. Lawman when sewer tap is made, in exchange
for easement for sewer line acros, his property. Motion was

All unpaid bills incurred during the month were submitted for
approval by the clerk. Motion was made by Mr. Durham, seconded
by Mr. Manson that these bills be paid. Motion was carried.
There was a motion by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Durham, that ,
the license fee for a Laundriette be $40.00 for the year 1947.
Motion was carried.
There was a motion by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. McCollum, that
Mr. G. P. Dorough not be given permit to have a quonset type house
constructed on his lots on Bank Street. Motion was carried.
Motion was made by Mr. McCollum, seconded by Mr. Jackson that all
Construction Account bills be paid. .Motion was carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Durham, seconded by Mr. Jackson,that ,
Mrs. Pruitt be authorized to approve labor payroll estimates for
the waterworks and sewer contracts, after they have been checked
and approved by Merritt & Welker. Motion was carried.
Petitkons requesting the passing of ordinances requiring the ,
paving of streets were presented by Committees from Love, Lee, Dunn �
and Sunset Streets. ' I+
