05-05-1947 Regular Meetingm May 5, 1947 The regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City Hall on :May 5, 1947 at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, Mrs. Lorena P. ' Pruitt, with all Councilmen present: B. H. Hanson, H. D. Durham, E. E. Jackson,-H. P. McCollum and W. A. Quarles. Motion was made by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Hanson, that unpaid water bills,amounting to $7.50, for the Smyrna Cannery, Inc:, be voided, the water cut off, and service charge of $3.00 collected before water service is again furnished. Motion was unanimously carried. There was a motion by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Durham, that Grinnellts bills that are past due against the Construction Account,be paid. Motion was unanimously carried. Financial report for the month of April was read by the Clerk. There was a motion by Mr. Hanson, seconded by Mr. Durham, that the report be approved. Motion was unanimously carried. All unpaid bills incurred during the month were submitted for approval by the clerk. Motion was made by Mr..Hanson, seconded by Mr. Durham, that these bills be paid. Motion was unanimously carried. , There was a motion by Mr. Quarles, seconded by ,Mr. Hanson, that Ralph and W. V. Cobb be paid for the property for the Sewage Disposal Plant Site as soon as the deed thereto is signed. Motion was unanimously carried. Motion was made by Mr. Quarles, seconded by Mr. Durham, that Mr. Paul Gresham be appointed appraiser in condemnation proceed- ings against H. J. Dunton. Motion was unanimously carried. A building permit was ordered issued to Weylan S. Adams for a residence on Walker Street. A building permit was granted Jerome Parker for a residence on, Atlanta Street. The clerk was instructed to collect $3.00 service fee from . George L. Brooks for replacement of a meter at the house formerly owned by George Parks, and $1.50 for 1946 water bill, such instructions thereby rescinding that part of the motion made at the,•April 7, 1947 meeting voiding the George,Parksy water bill. There being no further business, there was a motion by Mr. McCollum, seconded by Mr. Durham, that the meeting adjourn. Motion was unanimously carried. Thelma D. Myers, Clerk
