May 3, 1948.
A regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was.held at the City Hall
0n May 30 1948 at 7;30 P. M.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, Mrs.Lorena P. Pruitt
with the following councilmen present; Henry Konigsmark Jr., H. P.
McCollum, H. D. Durham,-M/ L. Collins and P. P. Shaw, also
Attorney Harold'Willingham.
Motion was made by Henry Konigsmark Jr. and seconded by H. D. Durham
that the minutes of the last meeting be approved as read and that
all bills presented be approved for payment, passed unanimous.
Petitions requesting passing of ordinances for paving of streets
were introduced and are attached at the close of these minutes and
made, a part hereof; they are more particularly described as follows;
Petition #1 Presented by a committee from Love Street between the
intersections'of Concord Street and the Omits , and signed
by Seven (7) property owners, this being a ma- or.My-of the property
owners of said street.
Petition # 2 Presented by a committee from Church Street, between
the intersections• of• Kin and Church streets and. City Limits ,
and signed by Seventeen" 17)l—operTy owners, this being a
majority of the property owners on said street.

Pursuant to advertising,required by law, and the statutes, a public
hearing was held on the ordinance to pave Powder Springs Street,
Introduced by Councilman H. P. McCollum and seconded by Councilman
P. P. Shaw at -the April 13, 1948 meeting of the Mayor and Council,
After such public hearing, Motion was made by Councilman M. L.
Collins and seconded by Councilman Henry-Konigsmark Jr. that the
ordinance for the paving of Powder Springs Street, Introduced by
'H. P. McCollum and seconded by P. P. Shaw at the April 13 1948
meeting of the mayor and council be passed in toto as introduced,
Motion was unanimously carried and such ordinance was addopted.
Pursuant to advertising, required by the statute, a public
hearing was held on the ordinance to pave Highland Avenue,
Introduced by councilman P. P. Shaw and seconded by Councilman
M. L. Collins at the April 13, 1948 meeting of the mayor and
council. After such public hearing, Motion was - made by P. P.
Shaw seconded by Councilman H. D. Durham that the ordinance
for the paving of Highland Avenue, Introduced by Councilman,
P. P. Shaw and seconded by Councilman M. L. Collins at the April
13, 1948 meeting of the mayor and council be passed in toto as
introduced, Motion was unanimously carried and such ordinance
was adopted.

hearing was held on the ordinance to pave Walker Street,
Introduced by Councilman P. P. Shaw and seconded by Councilman
H. P. McCollum at the April 13, 1948 meeting of the Mayor and
council, After such public hearing, Motion was made by H. D.
Durham and seconded by Councilman P. P. Shaw that the ordinance
for paving of Walker Street, Introduced by Councilman
'P. P. Shaw and seconded by Councilman H. P. McCollum at the April
130 1948 meeting of the mayor and council be passed in toto as
introduced, Motion was carried unanimously and such ordinance
was, adopted.
Pursuant to advertising, required by the statute, a public
hearing was held on the ordinance to pave Lower Church Street,
Introduced by councilman H. D. Durham and seconded by councilman
Henry Konigsmark Jr. at the April 13, 1948 meeting of the Mayor
and council, After such public hearing,"Motion was made byM. L.
Collins and seconded by P. P. Shaw that the ordinance for
paving of Lower Church Street, Introduced by H. D. Durham and
seconded by Henry Konigsmark Jr. at the April 13, 1948 meeting
of the mayor and council be passed in toto as introduced,
Motion was carried unanimously and such ordinance was adopted.

The Mayor and council, having received a petition from Seven (7)
Property Owners from -the Lower part of Flemming Street, against
paving ,of said street have ordered and do hereby order that the -
said Flemming street be re -advertised to.pave part ., or the s
upper part of said Flemming street and.said petition to exclude
the lower part of Flemming Street.
The mayor and council, after hearing a aomplaint by Mr. Carder
of Walker Court, tabled the paving of Walker Court till
some future date.
The mayor and council, after hearing a letter bf resignation
of Councilman Henry K onigsmark Jr. read had a motion by H. D.
Durham and seconded by M. L. Collins to accept the resignation
reluctantly, effe6tive May 42 1948. Passed unanimous.
Motion made by H. D. Durham and seconded by P. P. Shaw that the
license for a newspaper be set at Fifteen (15.00) Dollars per
year, Passed unanimous.
Motion made by H. D. Durham and seconded by P. P. Shaw that the
clerk be instructed to send notices to all delinquent businesses
that unless license.is paid within ($5)days after such notice
is sent out , said license will be double or the party failing
to pay such license will be stopped from doing business in the
City of Smyrna. Passed unanimous.

PETITION
TO THE MAYOR AND COMIC IL OF SMYRNA
Vie, the undersigned property owners on Sunset Avenue, submit this
petition, asking that due to the large number of cars and narrowness of
the street, cars not be allowed to park on the narrow part of Sunset Avenue.

TO THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SMYRNA, GEORGIA:
We, the undersigned property owners on that section of
Fleming Street lying between the intersection of- Fleming Street and
Atlanta Street in the City of Smyrna and the intersection of Fleming
Street with Hughes Street, desire to protest the ordinance intro-
duced at the call meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of
Smyrna on April 13, 1948, to pave Fleming Street. It is the desire
of the undersigned that Fleming Street not be paved and that the
proposed ordinance to pave it not be passed.
