03-01-1948 Regular Meeting90 March 1. 1948, A regular meeting of the Mayor and Council was held at the City hall on March 1. 1948,E at 7:30 P. M. The meeting was called by the Mayor, Mrs. Lorena P. Pruitt with all the councilmen present: Henry Kop.igsmark, P. P. Shaw, H. D. Durham, M. L. Collins, H. P. McCollum. , Mr. Homer Bond of Conlley, Ga. apppared,to make a report on cost of cleaning out Hoff Tank. Motion was made by Henry Koni9250,00, smark seconded. by P. P. Shaw to have Mr. Bond to clean out tank for The City to furnish' two men for two days, Letter mailed to Mr. Bond to this effect. Motion was unanimously, carried. After reading a letter from Mr. i. ti . Wootton dated 2/9/48 and discussion by Council, motion was made by Mr. Konigsmark , seconded by Mr. Collins to have an estimate made on fixing up Cannery for use as a City Hall. Carried unamimous. Motion was made by Mr. McCollum, seconded by Mr. Durham to graht Mr. Hollbrook a license for two ice cream carts,. the first to be $25.00, each additional ��5.00 each. The above motion was amended by Mr,. Konigsmark,seoonded by Mr. Collins, to grant the license for afternoons and Sundays only. Unanimously carried. Clerk was instructed to write to Mr. M. C. Stephens on Powder Springs Street requesting hirft to fix street in front of his house. It was agreed,G. E: Turner must appear before council to secure permit for house. Minutes were read and m6ti bnamade to adopt by Mr. Shaw seconded bpi Mr. Konigsmark. Motion was carried. All unpaid bills were submitted .for approval. Motion made by ItRr. Durham that they be paid, seconded by Mr. Konigsmark. Motion carried,; Motion made by Mr. Konigsmark that plumbers or parties tapping on sewerage without permit be fined. Seconded by Yr. Shaw. Motion carried. Motion made by Mr. Shaw , seconded by Mr. Konigsmark that all City employees be gmployed f or,another year at their same salaries. Motion carried. An agreement was reached with Mr. Branscombe to pay 50% of cost of • running sewerage to his property line and for tap in. A motion .was made by Mr. Durham that Mr. Branscombe pay one-half of costs of funning sewerage to his property line and to pay for one tap -in. The City of Smyrna to pay the other half.
