09-22-1997 Special Called MeetingSeptember 22, 1997 A special called meeting of Mayor and Council was held September 22, 1997 in the 2nd floor conference room of Smyrna City Hall. Presiding officer Mayor A. Max Bacon called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. All council members were present. Also present was City Administrator Howard Smith, City Clerk Melinda Dameron and City Attorney Charles E.. Camp. Mayor Bacon stated the purpose of the meeting was to approve the annexation of 87.62 acres on King Valley Drive, located in Land Lots 405, 406, 458 and 459. A. Milburn Poston submitted a petition requesting the annexation and all advertisements and other legal requirements have been met. Milburn Poston, Bill Poston, Clifton Poston and their attorney John Moore were present to answer any questions and there was no opposition to the annexation. Councilman Wood advised this annexation meets all requirements of Georgia law and the petition was signed by A. Milburn Poston representing 60% of the land owners. Councilman Wood made a motion the annexation be approved to be made a part of Ward 7, effective October 1, 1997. Councilman Newcomb seconded the motion which carried 7-0. Milburn Poston stated he felt this would be a good development that lie and the City would be proud of Foundations have been poured for 6 homes and the first has already been sold for $253,000. Council members expressed their appreciation to the Postons for bringing this property into the City and pledged their support. Howard Smith was asked to work with the inspections department to insure a smooth transition with the permitting process. With no fiirther business, Councilman Lnenicka made a motion the meeting be adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Charlene Capilouto seconded the motion which carried 7-0. "'0�00r A.
