01-17-1991 Regular MeetingJanuary 17, 1991 The Downtown Smyrna Development Authority met January 17, 1991 at Smyrna Hall at 7:00 p.m. Those attending were: Hubert Black Alton Curtis C. J- Fouts Jimmy Wilson Willouise Spivey Charles "Pete" Wood Absent: Jim Pitts Alton Curtis made a motion the June 13, 1990 minutes be approved as submitted. Jimmy Wilson seconded the motion which was unanimous. Bids were received from consultants Lynn Mene, Decatur Downtown Development Authority, Kevin Johns and Phil McLemore for architectural design guidelines. City Administrator John Patterson and Mayor Max Bacon were given authority to award the bid which went to Mr. McLemore. Mr. McLemore suggested that Harold Smith and Harry Mickelboro be invited to join the committee for historical reasons. Mayes Hamby and Robert Baldwin will be used as resource people. It was suggested it be announced in Council meeting that the Architectural Design Committee would consist of the members of the Downtown Development Authority with Harold Smith and Harry Mickelboro. Jimmy Wilson made a motion funds not exceeding $300 be authorized for architectural design for the Holbrook property, seconded by C. J. Fouts. Vote on the motion carried 5-0 with Alton Curtis abstaining. Next DDA meeting will be January 29, 1991 at 7:00 p.m. Alton Curtis made a motion to accept the Grant proposal for historic/tourism related projects under the State Local Development Fund Grants with the cities of Marietta and Smyrna responsible for committing $10,000 each as their share. C. J. Fouts seconded the motion which was unanimous. Alton Curtis stated in the future, he would like to have more time to study these requests before making a decision. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
