G.K. Johnson updated the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) regarding the leasing
status of Phase I of the Market Village. Mr. Johnson stated that Phase I is 100% leased and is
working on Phase II.
Mr. Johnson presented the DDA a Sign Package for signage in the Market Village. Max Bacon
asked Chris Miller if the signs meet the requirements for the Central Business District. Chris
Miller stated the Sign Package meets the requirements but would follow up with Mr. Johnson on
the measurements of the signs.
Mr. Johnson presented an example of the individual signs for the retail spaces and showed where
the signs would be placed. There was a brief discussion.
Larry Freeman made a motion to approve the sign package. Doug Stoner seconded the motion.
Motion was approved 5-0.
Mr. Johnson also asked on behalf of John Weiland Homes to change the reimbursement amount
for the residential units, which is used to maintain the Market Village. Mr. Johnson gave an
overview of the current agreement. Mr. Johnson stated the request from John Weiland Homes is
to reduce the amount from $.60/sq. ft. to $.40/sq. ft. Mr. Johnson stated this has been an issue in
the selling of the townhome units and since this is a unique project there was no market data to
use as a reference.
Hubert Black made a motion to change the reimbursement rate from $.60/sq.ft. to $.40/sq.ft.
pending approval from Mayor and Council. Larry Freeman seconded the motion. Motion was
approved 5-0.
Mayor Bacon discussed the Veterans Memorial and due to scheduling conflicts and the progress
of the project, the DDA and Veterans Memorial Assoc. were unable to meet again.
Doug Stoner made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 22, 2002 meeting. C.J. Fouts
seconded the motion. Motion was approved 5 —0.
