03-19-1998 Regular MeetingDOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MARCH 19, 1998 6:30 P.M. The Downtown Development Authority Architectural Review Committee met March 19, 1998 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall conference room. Present was: A. Max Bacon, Chairman Jim Pitts Jimmy Wilson C. J. Fouts Willouise Spivey Hubert Black Doug Stoner Harold Smith Robin Broyles Melinda Dameron Howard Smith Bill Lincicome with Post Properties presented their master plan for the redevelopment of the old 84 Lumber site at Spring and Atlanta Road including renovation and extension of the existing building and construction of three additional buildings. Mr. Lincicome said they were asking approval tonight for construction of the first building which will be utilized for the Post training operation and which will be used for on -going classes. The first two buildings will be metal similar to the original structure and the last building which will be used for their office, will be totally brick. Included in their plans is heavy landscaping to including planted buffers around the perimeter of the property to replace the chain link fence with 3" caliper red maples lining the driveway. This building should be started mid to late summer, the next building starting 1 '/2 to 2 years away and the entire project completed in the next 3 to 5 years. Hubert Black made a motion the entire master plan be approved, seconded by C. J. Fouts. Vote on the motion was unanimous. Robin Broyles advised the architectural guidelines were revised and approved by Council March 16, 1998 and they will now be referred to as standards rather than guidelines. When bound copies are received thev will be distributed to all members.
