The scheduled meeting of the City of Smyrna Planning Commission was held
at City Hall, August 22, 1977 and called to order at 5:30 O'clock P.M. by
Chairman Norman Miles. Also present was Sam Owens, Tom Corso, Jack
Strickland, Richard Debord, David Robinson and Anita Greathouse. Mr. Allen
Potter was absent.
The first order of business was a motion by Sam Owens to despense with the
reading of the minutes from our July meeting. The motion was seconded by
Jack Strickland and vote on the motion was unanimous to approve the minutes
as submitted.
The Second order of business was the request from Jesse E. Woods, Jr. to
rezone 1030 Church Street, from R-15 to RM-10 (Tri-Plex). Property being
described as follows:
All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in Land Lot 450, 17th
district, 2 nd Section of Cobb County, Georgia, and in the City of
Smyrna, and being Subdivision Lots 100, 101, 102, and 79 feet off the
east side of lot 103 of the Reed and Walker Subdivision as per survey
made for Atlanta Land Auction Sale Company, and being more particularly
described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point and iron pin at the South East Land Lot corner of
Land Lot 450; thence running North 1 degree 53 minutes East along the
East Land Lot Line of Land Lot 450 for a distance of 330.9 feet to a
point and iron pin; said point and iron pin being located at the
intersection of the East Land Lot Line of Land Lot 450 and the South
Right -of -Way of Church Street; thence running along said Right -of -Way
North 89 degrees 15 minutes West for a distance of 220.0 feet to a point
and iron pin; thence running South one degree 53 minutes West for a
distance of 330.08 feet to a point and iron pin; said point and iron pin
being located on the South Land Lot Line of Land Lot 450 ; thence run-
ning along said South Land Lot Line South Land Lot Line 89 degrees 02
minutes East for a distance of 220.0'feet to a point and iron pin; skid
point and iron pin being the point of BEGINNING; and being part of the
same property conveyed to Cecil R. Mason, Jr., by Warranty Deet from
Frances S. Embrey, dated July 22, 1959, and recorded in Deed Book 502,
Page 431, Cobb County Records.
Mr. Wood's daughter Teresa Ray was present to represent him. She stated they
wanted to build this apartment according to the plans submitted with the
application for rezoning. Two units are to be completed with the original
building and the basement will be completed at a later date. After a short
period of discussion Jack Strickland made a motion the property be rezoned to
RM-10 (Tri-Plea) proveded that it be developed according to the plans and
specifications submitted with the rezoning application for one building con-
sisting of a maximum of three (3) units . The motion was seconded by David
Robinson and vote on the motion was unanimous.
Mr. David Robinson stated he was planning to move outside the City Limits and
would no longer be able to hold his position with the Planning Commission. This
will be effective as of August 31, 1977.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 P. M.
