The scheduled meeting of the City of Smyrna Planning Commission
was held at the Smyrna City Hall, August 4, 1980, and was called
to order at 6:00 o'clock P. M. by Chairman Allen Potter.
Also present were Jack Strickland, Tom Corso, Bill Wood, George
Griffin, M. E. Jernigan and Paula Cannon.
The first order of business was the rezoning request of J.
Gadsden Russell, F. Russell Davis, Jr. and Edwin G. Lane, Jr.
to rezone property located at 1275 Concord Road, located in
land lot 523, from R-15 residential to Limited Commercial for
the use of offices. Mr. Ted Davis was also in attendance to
represent the sellers.
The property is described as follows:
All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in
Land Lot 523 of the 17th District, 2nd Section, Cobb County,
Georgia, and being Lot 1, Block A of the Subdivision,
of Mrs. E. 0. Pickens,as per plat recorded in Plat
Book 3, Page 1, Cobb County Records, Georgia as is shown
on plat of same prepared by Delta Engineers and Surveyors,
Inc. dated January 9, 1974 and being more particularly
described as follows:
BEGINNING at an iron pin and corner located at the
intersection of the north side of Medlin Street ;'-
right of way with the westerly side of Concord Road
right of way; thence north 81 degrees 21 minutes 40
seconds west along the Medlin Street right of way
for a dsitance of 176.4 feet to a point and corner;
thence running south 39 degrees 57 minutes 40 seconds
west along the north westerly side of Medlin Street
right of•way for a dsitance of 100 feet to a point
and corner; thence running north 00 degrees 39 minutes
10 seconds west 164.9 feet to an iron pin and corner;
thence running south 86 degrees 51 minutes east for
a distance of 227 feet to an iron pin and corner;
thence running south 86 degrees 13 minutes 50 seconds
east for a distance of 78-3 feet to an iron pin and
corner;thence running south south westerly along the
westerly side of the Concord Road right of way for a
distance of 116.8 feet to the point of beginning,
being improved property having a house thereon known
as 1275 Concord Road according to the present system
of numbering houses in the City of Smyrna, Georgia.
Mr. Potter brought up the fact that the Mayor and Council may
require that the buyers may be required to pave several parking
spaces for office facilities. He also asked if there would be
any curb cuts onto Concord Road. The buyer, Mr. Davies, stated
that the entrance will remain on Medlin Street.
On motion by Bill Wood, seconded by Jack Strickland, a motion
to rezone the property carried by unanimous vote.
