The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board was held on July 27th,
and called to order at 5:45 by Chairman Allen Potter. Those in attendance
were Dan Scoggins, Bill Wood, Jack Strickland, Billie Stephens, George Griffin,
and M. E. Jernigan. Also in attendance were Paula Cannon, Secretary and
Dan Steely, Building Inspector.

After discussion with the various members oni:the construction, cost, etc. of
the project:in-question Mr. Hamby concluded his presentation. Jack.Strickland,%
stated that -he -felt that• the rezoning of this property would be a good^idea
prima,ri=Ly.*because, twould be -residential and not. commercial.. He also stated
that-if.Mr. _Hamby complied with the sellin price he 'quoted and the dctual,
plans he, submitted to the Board it would be in keeping with the surrounding
wne_ighborhood as mudh as -would be possible with this ,type development. Dan
Scoggins made a motion 1. that the property be rezoned from 0 & I to RTD for
the construction of fee simple townhouses. Billie Stephens seconded the motion.
Vot the* motion was^unanimous..
4&Thet�s'eeond order of business was a request by Hugh "Buddy" Scoggins to rezone
property located on Atlanta Road, between Bill's Tire Service and Campbell High
School from L.I. (Light Industry) to RTD (Residential Townhouse District).
Mr. Scoggins stated that he wished to construct six (6) six unit buildings and
two (2) five unit buildings. He stated that the units will be two and three
bedrooms with two and three baths. The floor area for each unit will range
from between�,1100 sq. feet to 1750 sq. feet., with the price range of the:.I.units
from between $50,000 to $70,000. *; ,
Mr. Scoggins also stated that the north, south and east boundaries of the
property will have a six foot chain, -.link privacy fence. He also stated that
the units will be constructed of brick and frame.
With little discussion George Griffin made a motion that the property be rezoned
from L.I. to RTD. Dan Scoggins seconded the motion. Vote on the motion was
unanimous.
The final order of business was a request by Ken Minchew of Afton Downs for the
Planning and Zoning Board to make a recommendation to Mayor and Council that
he be allowed, as the market demands, to construct any number of one bedroom
units in the development he now has under construction. He explained that he
was granted permission to build one each, one bedroom unit, per building,by
the Council at the onset of his development. He now wishes to be given permission
to vary from this to the extent that he be allowed to build more one bedroom units.
He also stated that the floor area would remain the same as is presently allowed
in his zoning. (1000 sq. feet).
Gene Jernigan made a motion that Mr. Mindhew be allowed to build the above
described units. Billie Stephens seconded the motion. Vote on the motion was
unanimous.
