06-25-1979 Regular MeetingJUNE 25, 1979 The City of Smyrna Planning Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting at the Smyrna Police Department Court Roon on June 25, 1979 and was called to order at 5:30 o'clock P.M. by Chairman Allen Potter. Also present was M. E. Jernigan, Bill Wood, Jack Strickland, Tom Corso, George Griffin, Charlie Mc Coy, Anita Mullins and Paula Cannon. The first order of business was a request by Charles & Thelma Haynes to rezone property at 1148 Concord Road from F. C. to L. C. . Property being described as follows: Land Lot 485 of the 17th District, Second Section of Cobb County, Georgia, being Lots 3 and 4, Block A of Smyrna Heights Extension, according to plat recorded in Plat Book 12, Page 11, Cobb County Records, and being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the corner formed by the intersection of the south- easterly side of Concord Road and the Southwesterly side of King Springs Road; running thence southwesterly along the southeasterly side of Concord Road, one hundred eighty-eight and eight tenths (188.8) feet; thence southeasterly one hundred forty-four and six tenths (144.6) feet; thence northeasterly one hundred eighty and nine tenths (180.9) feet to the southwesterly side of King Springs Road: thence northwesterly along the southwesterly side of King Springs Road one hundred twenty-one (121) feet to the point of beginning; being improved property. The Wwners Mr. & Mrs Haynes were present and also 2 representatives from the Real Estate Company listing the property. After some discussion Jack Strickland made a motion the request be approved subject to proper buffers being put up. The motion was seconded by Charlie McCoy and vote for the motion was unanimous. The Second order of business was a request by Atlanta Real Estate Associates Inc. to rezone property on Hawthorne St. Land Lot 591 from 0. D. to RM-10. Property being described as follows: All that tract of land lying and being in Land Lot 591 of the 17th District, 2nd section of Cobb County, Georgia and being described as follows: BEGINNING at the common corner of land lot 563, 590 562, and 591 thence running along the common Land Lot Line of 590 and 591, in an easterly direction 71Q.7 feet to a point; thence making an interior angle of 89 degrees 18 minutes 20 seconds and running 250 feet to a point; thence making an interior angle of 90 degrees 41 minutes 30 seconds plus 89 degrees 18 minutes 30 seconds and running 1038.1 feet to a point on the northerly side of Hawthorne Street (50 feet right of way); thence making an interior angle of 89 degrees 37 minutes 40 seconds and running 295 feet to a point on the northerly side of Hawthorne Street; thence making an interior angle of 93 degrees 20 minutes 0 seconds and running 193 feet to a point; thence making an interior angle of 198 degrees 35 minutes 50 seconds and running 523 feet to a point; thence making an interior angle of 248 degrees 52 minutes 10 seconds and running 225 feet to a point; thence making an interior angle of 89 degrees 19 minutes 50 seconds and running 350 feet to a point; thence making an interior angle of 90 degrees 56 minutes 0 seconds plus 89 degrees 04 minutes 0 seconds and running 250 feet to the point of beginning. As per survey R. Dan Lord Dated February 9, 1972. Mr. Ray Moote and Mr. Doug Dramey were present to represent the owner. Mr. Dromey stated they planned approximately 156 units all of which will be rented. This development will -contain duplex, triplex and quads with a value of approximately $35,000 per unit. -After some discussion Charlie McCoy made a motion to recommend the the rezoning be approved .
