The scheduled meeting of the City of Smyrna Planning Commission was held at

City Hall, May 26, 1975 and called to order at 7;30 o'clock P. M. by
Vice Chairman C. E. Camp.
Edna OB Cochran
The first order of business to come before the Planning and Zoning
Commission was that of Edna OB Cochran, 3061 Pickens St. Request to
change zoning from F. C. to L.0 Property being described as follows:
All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in Land Lots
486 and 523 of the 17th District 2nd Section Cobb County, Georgia
and being more particularly described as follows:
To find the true point of beginning begin at a point located
on the westerly right of way line of Concord Road; said point
being located 348.4 feet South of the intersection formed by
the South right of way line of Medlin Street and the westerly right
of way line of Concord Road as measured along said westerly
right of way line of Concord Road; thence running N 65 Degrees 56
minutes 30 seconds West for a distance of 177.27 feet to a point
and the true point of beginning. Thence running N 24 Degrees 09
minutes 46 seconds East for a distance of100.17 feet to a point;
thence running N 84 degrees 33 minutes 07 seconds West for a distance
of 75.0 feet to a point ; thence running N 24 degrees 09 minutes
43.9 feet to the ture point of beginning. Being further described
as the back 75 feet from the rear property line and consisting
of the area within lots 8 and 9 in Block B of the Mrs. 0. E. Pickens
Subdivision, known as 3061 Pickens Drive in the 17th District of
Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia.
Neither -Mrs. Cochran nor Dr. Weiss the prospective buyer were present Mrs.
Thelma Tino of Hagood and Williams was present acting as agent for the owner.
Mrs Tino stated that this piece of property ajoines Dr. Weisst,s property.
In order for Dr. Weiss to beautify his property with trees and shrubs
he needs this additional area for Parking. Mrs. Tino further stated that
Dr. Weiss knows and agrees to put up proper buffers. After Discussion by
the Zoning Commission Joe McHarg made a motion to recommend to
Mayor & Council this property be rezoned as requested restricted to use
as a parking lot. Vote was 2 for the motion and 1 against.
HARRY E. GARNER
The second order of business to come before the Planning and Zoning Comm.
was that of H.E.- Garner 696 Cherokee Rd. Request to change from L. C.
G. C. Property being described as follows:
All that tract of land lying in Land Lot 375 of the 17th
District, 2nd section of Cobb County, Georgia and being
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the south side of Cherokee Road 120 Feet west
from the southwest intersection of Cherokee road and
Burbank Circle South ; thence running south 100 feet to a
point; thence running southwesterly 58.31 feet to a point;
thence running west 45 feet to a point; thence running north
150 feet to a point on the south side of Cherokee Road; thence
running east along.the south side —of Cherokee Road 75 feet to

the point of beginning. Said tract being more commonly known
as 696 Cherokee Road in the City of Smyrna, Cobb County,
Georgia.
Mr. Garner was present. He stated that his prospective buyer wants to
use
use this location for a western clothing store. He stated that the previous
tenant was an Electric Co.. Mr. Garner was informed that buffers
would have to be placed where the property ajoined residentially zoned property.
Mr. Garner further stated that he would make sure this was done. He
also.stated that the parking area would be located in back of the store.
After discussion by the Zoning Commission Joe McHarg made a motion to
recommend to Mayor -and Council this be rezoned as requested limited
to use as a clothing store. Vote on the motion was unanimous.
