03-26-1979 Regular MeetingMARCH 26, 1979
The City of Smyrna Planning Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting
at City Hall on March 26, 1979 and was called to order at 6:00 o'clock P.M.
by Chairman Allen Potter. Also present was M. E. Jernigan, George Griffin,
Jack Strickland, Tom Corso, Bill Wood, W. C. McCoy and Anita Mullins.
The first order of business was a call for questions or changes in the
March 5, munutes. There were not questions or changes therefore, the
minutes were approved as typed.
There were two members from the current Grandjury Zoning Committee present
to see how our meetings were conducted and ask questions. Mr Corso is also
on this committee and stated that they are studying the East-West Connector,
Spot Zoning, and Annexation. It was suggested that all zoning boards brom
the county and all cities in the county get together once or twice a year
to gain information on various problems. It was the opinion of all members
that this would be a good idea.
The Commission read a letter that had been sent to the Mayor and then refered
to the Commission for their opinion. This was for Li'1 General Stores, the
property in question was at the intersection of North Cooper Lake Rd. & Concord
Road. After some discussion it was the general consensus of the Commission
that this type convenience store would be a fair use for the property, but
in order to sell gasoline the property would need to be zoned G. C. instead
of N. S.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 P.M.
