Approval of December 21, 2015 Mayor and Council Meeting Minutes A motion was made by Councilmember Wade Lnenicka to approve the December 21, 2015 Mayor and Council meeting minutes, seconded by Councilmember Ron Fennel. Swearing in Ceremony for the Mayor and City Council - Superior Court Judge Ann Harris Sponsors: City Council Mayor Max Bacon introduced Superior Court Judge Ann Harris and noted that Judge Harris would facilitate the swearing in of the newly elected Mayor and Council and the appointed officials. Judge Harris quoted from a book written by John Meacham about the first George Bush, he made a comment in the book about George Bush Sr. and when around the breakfast table they would read a Bible verse each morning and of the verses he often read, "It is required of those who have been given a trust must prove faithful". Judge Harris noted that she believes that is a great charge for all public servants, she would encourage all sworn in to remember those words. Mayor Bacon was the first to be sworn in, he called his family up to celebrate and be a part of his oath. He introduced his family and asked that his daughter Ashley hold the Bible while Judge Harris administered the oath. Mayor Max Bacon signed his oath and was given the Bible used for the oath. Mayor Bacon called Derek Norton who represents Ward 1 to be sworn in, he called his family to come up to be a part of his oath. Derek's wife Laura held the Bible while Judge Harris administered the oath. Councilmember Derek Norton signed his oath and was given the Bible provided for the oath. Mayor Bacon called Andrea B/ustein who represents Ward 2. Ms. B/ustein called her dear friends Dale and Richard Warner to be present during the swearing in. Dale held the Bible while Judge Harris administered the oath, Councilmember Andrea B/ustein signed the oath and was given the Bible provided for the oath. Mayor Bacon called on Teri Anulewicz who represents Ward 3. Ms. Anulewicz called on her family, her daughter Sylvia held the Bible while Judge Harris administered the oath. Councilmember Teri Anulewicz signed the oath and was given the Bible provided for the oath. Mayor Bacon called on Charles (Corkey) Welch who represents Ward 4. Mr. Welch called his family, and his wife Catherine held the Bible while Judge Harris administered the oath. Appointment and swearing in of City Attorney Sponsors: City Council A motion was made by Councilmember Teri Anulewicz to appoint Scott Cochran as the City Attorney, seconded by Charles (Corkey) Welch. Mr. Cochran's mom, Leila was asked to hold the bible while Judge Ann Harris read his oath. City Attorney Scott Cochran signed the oath and was given the Bible provided for the oath. Ward 2 - Councilmember Andrea Blustein commented on the weather and stated that she wishes everyone a great 2016, Ward:3 - Councilmember Teri Anulewicz thanked her colleagues for the opportunity to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Ward 4 - Councilmember Charles "Corkey" Welch thanked everyone for coming out in support of those sworn in. Ward 5 - Councilmember Susan Wilkinson thanked the citizens of Ward 5 for re-electing her. Ward 6 - Councilmember Doug Stoner thanked the citizens of Ward 6 for electing him and noted his previous experience in the Senate and as a State Representative, He Page City of Smyrna 1 Printed on 1/1112016 also thanked his wife and he looks forward to serving the citizens Ward 7 - Councilmember Ron Fennel noted the growth in Ward 7 and he expressed thanks for his re-election. He also noted the talented public safety staffthat he has had the privilege to work with the last four years as the Public Safety Chair and he looks forward to continuing to work with them in some capacity, City Administrator Mike L. Jones thanked the department heads for their talents and team work and thanked those in attendance. He also mentioned Ann Kirk and her recent hospital stay and asked for prayers for her and he noted he looks forward to the next four years and appreciated the opportunity to continue to serve. City Attorney Scott Cochran echoed the thanks stated by Mike Jones and remarked that he was happy to be able to continue to be a part of this team of officials and staff. City Clerk Terri Graham expressed her appreciation in being reappointed and thanked the Mayor and Council for their faith and confidence in her. She also noted that she was looking forward to working with the very talented Department Heads and Staff with the city. 11.
