Chapman, that petition o.f King-Williams Land Company be accepted to rezone Ward Street Property from R-I Residential to R-2 Residential, (Restricted Apartment Project) with a minimum two-lane drive for egress and ingress from Cherokee Road to be maintained on a permanent basis, this in addition Ward Street entrance. Motion further stipulates owner shall comply with all City codes, regulations and ordin- ances. Motion carried unanimous. 44 (Continuation of July= 6, 1964 Meeting) A motion R. J. McCurry, second H. Kuhl that Police Department be ins~tecr:ted to cite King-Williams Land Company for violation of bui,ldi.ng code, and voted unanimous, Council approved request for a building permit, King- Williams Land Company for apartment pxoject on Ward Street subject to check out by City Building Inspector. Motion R. J. McCurry, second J. C. Porterfield to accept petition and set date for hearing at August 3, 1964, 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Voted unanimous. G. W. Kreeger appointed H. Kuh]., R. H. Wood and B. A. Thomas as a committee to prepare study and report on facilities per above petition. A motion R. J. McCurry, second H. I<uhl to grant request of Sharon Baptist Church for building permit. Was voted unanimous. Council approved building permit for educational building at Tillman Memorial Methodist Church subject to adjustment of "est`imated" cost to a "calculatedt' cost, Motion R, J, A4cCurry, second H. Kuhl and voted unanimous. Council deferred action on request for building permit from M, B. Ware, Sur-Way Laundry, subject ~o check out by= Police Inspectors and Engineer. Council asked Mr. Kelley to follow through on Georgia Land Companyfs Campbellwood sign in violation of code. - Mr. William F. Holley, attorney, appeared on behalf of seven (~) property owners on San Fernando Dr,, claiming an excessive amount of water has been diverted on to their several properties. After some discussion councilman J. July 9, 1964, would be held as scheduled unless the City Attorney advises to the contrary. Council on motion R. J. McCurry, second H. Kuhl, approved write off water bill of Rob Flournoy property ari Ventura Road after hearing from Mr. Flournoy. Motion carried 5 to 1. B. A. Thomas voting against motion. P. J. Sutton, Hensley-Schmidt, Inc., reported an extension to July 15th was needed on the Water Study- and asked that City request same. Council set July 13, 1964, 7:00 p.m, at City Hall as date to hear Water Study proposal. of Hensley-Schmidt, Inc. A paid bill covering damage to sewer i.ateral from Pitner Dorris 357 Concord Road, (said damage done by Telephone Company sub- contractor) was referred t~ Clerk to contact Telephone Company. C. M. Chapman requested Sewerage Treatment Plant Supt. Elmer 6Vester be paid fox one week of his two week vacation in lieu of taking the second week vacation. There was no objection from floor. Councilman McCurry did state a vacation schedule should be established each year and adhered to in order to avoid absence of several department heads at same time. ~ Council heard request fox sewer tap-ons on Northview Place and Campbell Road. Permit to tap-on was denied by reason the requests were submitted by County residents. Motion was heard to adjourn. ICreeger presiding. All members of Cauncil were present, except J. S. Ables, (on vacation), Mr. Lex Jolley was also present. Mayor and Council heard presentation by i~1r. I'. J. Sutton, Iiensley-Schmidt, Inc., an proposed t~tater System expansion. The taster Systems Study proposal was based on a. 20 year projection. The first phase (5 years) pointed toward immed- iate improvement of water pressure throughout the existing system anc9 laid foundation for future growth of the City. In addition, this is an important step in obtaining a better fire xating for the City and its citizens. The extimated cost of these pxopc~sed i::zprovements totals $763,295.00. Financing the project would require a SOm increase in water rates. After discussion and analysis of the ti~T~.ter Study a motion R. J. A•IcCuxry second II. Kuhl to reject the proposal was voted 5 to 0, J. C.
