01-04-2010 January 4, 2010January 4, 2010 The regular scheduled meeting of Mayor and Council was held at Smyrna City Hall. The meeting was called to order by presiding officer Mayor A. Max Bacon at 7:30 o'clock p.m. All council members were present except Council Member McNabb. Also present were City Administrator Eric Taylor, City Clerk Susan Hiott, City Attorney Scott Cochran, Assistant City Administrator Tammi Saddler and representatives of the press. Invocation was given by Reverend Terry Phillips of Bethany United Methodist Church, followed by the pledge to the flag. AGENDA CHANGES: There were none. MAYOR'S REPORT: There was none LAND ISSUES/ZONINGS/ANNEXATIONS: There were none. PRIVILEGE LICENSE: There were none. FORMAL BUSINESS: There was none. COMMERCIAL BUILDING PERMITS: There were none. CONSENT AGENDA: (A) Approval of December 21, 2009 minutes (B) Approval to use the City Council Chambers from 6:30 - 9:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2010, for a Ward 4 / 6 Neighborhood Watch meeting (the Forest Hill Preservation Group) MOTION: Council Member Smith made a motion to approve the consent agenda. The motion was seconded by Council Member Wood. Motion was approved 6 - 0. Mayor Bacon stated Council Member McNabb is out of town. January 4, 2010 COMMITTEE REPORTS: Council Member Pritchett commended Zucca's, Jim & Nick's and Atkins Park restaurants for contributing food to the Abused Women and Children Division of YWCA. Council Member Newcomb yielded the floor with no report. Council Member Anulewicz wished everyone a Happy New Year. Council Member Smith yielded the floor with no report. Council Member Lnenicka wished everyone a Happy New Year. Council Member Wood yielded the floor with no report. Mr. Taylor reminded everyone about the upcoming Christmas tree chipping event at Home Depot and the new hours of operation at the Recycling Center. CITIZENS INPUT: Mayor Bacon recognized Mr. Alex Backry, residing at 3459 Shawnee Trail, who commented about an article which appeared in the Marietta Daily Journal concerning Federal stimulus funds provided to the City. Mr. Backry made some suggestions for using these resources. Mr. Backry stated he would like to know what alternative fuels the City's leadership is considering for possible future use.
